Id really like to try out 3D Studio MAX but I cant afford to buy it Do you guys know of a place on the net where I could download it? Id prefer to get the full version but a demo would do just fine.

I don't know about any demos, but I can tell you that no one on this board is going to tell you to go and download a pirated copy of it. Uhhh... you could try their website if you want to look for demos, although I kinda doubt that there is one...

Ive downlaoded the demo, its 30mb. Try college book stores, they usually sell things for 60% off, Photoshop 5.5 is only 299 bucks at my colleges store. If you arent a college student then try to find someone who is to buy it for you.

Discreet are making something called 3D Studio gMAX which supposedly will be free. It's a simplified version of max but they say it is a tool for future maxers, so you probably learn a lot basics through that.

hmm.. even if you cold find it at a student store.. it costs like 4 times as much as photoshop.

quite easy to say that its not a program for private persons.

i think like this if youre not gonna use it for any commersial stuff, its ok to pirate it.

try IRC thats my best guess.

Although I dont condone Piracy... I think you should at least have a go of the full version before you buy the program.. Just amagine how daunting 3dmax would be to a newbie who just forked out thousands for it... well here is the link... I dont think this is bad as long as you do buy the full copy later.... also dont make anything with the program and try and make money out of your creation...

URL REMOVED

theres the link...

im sorry if I enrage some members... but 3dmax is a definate try before your buy..

Well, there is a student or educational version available, which gives you full features, but just can't use it for commercial purposes. This is the current copy I have and it cost me AU$200 if memory serves me well. What you could if you want modelling experience is download Milkshape3D, a shareware modelling program that'll cost you US$20 to register. I have a registered version of this aswell, and pretty much all the skills you learn in MS3D are transferable over to MAX.

Of course, if you want to make whole scenes with whizz-bang effects, you'll have to go MAX. Definately get the student ver tho. All the docos and tuts, and you can get the student price you paid knocked off when you upgrade to the registered.

Sorry Freddio.. I don't think that was a good idea to post that link here.

First this is no warez board and such content is not appropriate here.

Second you could have emailed him the link as well.

And last but not least people earn their money with 3dsmax and they deserve to be paid. The demo give a very good impression on what max is capable of and what not. The student version is btw very cheap (just read on the discreet site) and quite affordable.

just had to bitch about this.
