I'm not really the master of creating solid heads but maybe this could give you an idea:
The shape of the head is too round, There is more happening around the face-area. You could check out Fred's head tutorial.
The nose also looks connected to the forehead.
It could be easier creating the shades harder
first and softening just some of the shades, but leave the right ones sharp.
This works for me.
