that was lightwave.
and oh yeah, the background is a photo.
here's another one, doesn't look as realistic though, (not that much noise but perhaps shows better what's going on.
(and what's not =suggestions taken
at least the texturing is still a bit uniform.
charles: i'm doing a lot of my lighting with panorama images and i like the light conditions on that one as the images have to be floating-point to work nicely, i haven't done any of my own yet :\ (working on it)
(that panorama is by paul debevec)
perhaps i should've blurred the background

Wow, that's really nice. The noise does a good job of giving it that "JFK Assasination Photo" effect.
My only criticism would be that, while it DOES look like a completely convincing rendition of a gun... it looks like a completely convincing rendition of a plastic gun. This is mostly due to how diffuse the reflections are. Crank up the shininess a bit, and it'll look more metallic. Unless that's what you're going for.
Very, very cool. |

man eetu! Thats kickass!
I guess I will have to invest into lightwave.. the rendering is awesome.
I don't think that the metal parts look too much like plastic, but maybe a little more reflectiveness would not be bad. |
