Hey guys!
I don't usually do gross/evil stuff, but I did this sketch a long time ago and came across it the other day. I decided I wanted to color.
I made quite the background story for this creature, since I think it's fairly cool. Here's the rundown: Obviously, it's called a Soul Harvester. It's an undead creature that stays "alive" by feasting off the souls of freshly killed victims. It digs its claws into their heads and sucks the energy through the dark coils into it's body. The energy manifests itself as the fire that is shown. If you look closely, you can see the faces of some of the tortured spirits that are now owned by the Soul Harvester. Gross, huh?! Anyway, it has a chest harness made of skulls from its human victims. You can tell how large it is by the scale of human skulls to its head.
Again, not my "typical" subject matter, but it's fun to try something different every once in a while! Hope you guys like the image! It was fun doing. The printed version looks nice, too!
Thanks!

Nice Pic G:tech!!
I did the same thing, going back to some of my high school subject matter for my latest pic, Lost.
I LOVE the tubes, the way they burst from the forearms and bulge n' ripple around his back is fantastic. The head is awesome, as are the bony spines retreating down his back.
Doesn't he just beg to be a villain in a Spawn comic?
The only bits that I thought looked a bit funny was the fact that his right armband looks thinner than his left. If its a matter of foreshortening, maybe the shoulder muscle on his right arm needs a tad more definition to show this.
A couple of the human skulls lack a bit of definition (cheekbones?) as well, but apart from that ... WOW!
Great Work.

Tinusch: Thank you so much! That's the best compliment anyone has ever given me. I appreciate far more than you know!
rdgraffix: Thanks for the input! To answer your comment about the armband, it is smaller as a result of foreshortening. I think you are right about needing a bit more definition on the muscle to make it look right.
You're also right about the skulls needing a bit more definition. They're supposed to be really beaten up and damaged as a result of the harvesters horrible attack, so they aren't in very good shape. I should have scuffed em up a bit more and detailed them, as you suggested, especially cheekbones.
By the way, nice "Lost" pic! Looks very cool, gross, and disturbing! Kinda looks like a Soul Harvester has a claw latched into his skull in the upper right part of the pic... sucking his soul away! Maybe that's why he looks so freaked out But seriously, really cool pic.
Any more feedback is welcome.

Whoa!!
Very cool pic g:tech. I love the hands and overall concept. The skulls around his chest look damn cool as well
Oh and the linework and colouring is beautiful and VERY clean. How did you get your lines that clean? Is this coloured over an ink sketch?

jasonN:
I had a sketch of the image done on regular paper lying around for a while. I scanned it in, and then turned the opacity of the sketch down to about only 30% (Photoshop). I then made a new layer, and using my Wacom, very carefully traced over the original lines with a hard, black small paintbrush, using the pressure sensitivity to taper the lines when necessary. Once the outline is done, the color is easy (underneath the outline layer).

Another cool coloring g:tech.
In response to Tinusch- I'd love to see the Soul Harvester in a Disney cartoon. Maybe digging it's claws into the Little Mermaid's skull perhaps? :P |

that is sweet, although I would make the pic a bit darker and add a color dodge to the smoke to make it shinier. That would look great as a wallpaper, if you have a high rez pic of it, I could add some design stuff and make it a decent wallpaper. Email me for more info. [email protected]

Nice, Nice, Nice!
Damn G:Tech that really is cool.
Very clean cut drawing.
The skull necklace is creepy!
Do you animate at all? because I'd love to see the soul harvester doing his thing.

Manik:
Thanks, man! Have you seen the Napster Bad cartoon on campchaos.com? Imagine the Harvester doin his thing on the mermaid and then saying "Mermaid.. GOOD!"
Mantis:
Yeah, I'll e-mail you about this. This could be interesting!
Speve:
Ultimately, I do hope to animate. That's my life dream. Unfortunately, as of this moment, I haven't any knowledge of any computer programs that facilitate animation. The only way I would know how to is to simply hand draw and scan each frame, which would take forever.
But thanks for the feedback!

Awesome! I really like your style! MMm celshading ..
Hm why not try animating in flash? I'm sure the drawing tools there will be enough for your needs.
