Shizo: fr33k, go back to yer cave! hehe
and for Cyb0g0d, use PENOCELL!
actually I prefer mechanical pencils, but many people prefer normal pencils..
3B is good
and then maybe outline it with a pen or a thin marker

Cybergod, are you im?.....its a rather simple question.
You'll be back to check the answers so could YOU answer that please.
Your questions are odd to say the least, its personal preference.
It seems odd you don't defend yourself from acusations, if your ligit then sweet- hello how are u, if not then why are you here?. |

I'd recommend drawing with a #3B or #4B pencil and inking it after you've finished..... If you start out with ink you can't correct any lines or such. So you can draw much more freely with a pencil because you can always correct any mistakes.

Really, isn't this a bit unfair?
Isn't it pretty rude going around tossing accusations like that before you're absolute certain? After all, that was a legitimate question. S/he has to be allowed to ask things, right, without being flamed for being someone whom s/he might, or might not be.
Not that it's any of my business... I just think it's a pity that the actions of some new people on the forum is lashing out against "newbies" (me being a newbie myself) that might not have done anything wrong. So wait until you know for sure before throwing something like that in someone's face
And this will make me look a fool IF Cybergod /is/ im... well, what the hey...

It's not a matter of lashing out at "newbies," Enayla, its lashing out at a person who's posted his work in other people's thread with no reason or explanation, rudely replied to other threads, and posted virus-infected files. The reaction towards im/itsik/cybergod has been a bit extreme, but not without good reason. Personally, I'm trying to remain neutral and give him a chance... after all, he's not Gabe Reiser.
Cybergod- Pencil first, then ink.

Heh, yeah, I know about the virus infected files and all that. What I'm wondering is how you can be absolute sure this is the same guy?
Right, there are spelling mistakes... but honestly, s/he's far from the only one doing that.
Not that it matters to me. Just a thought.
Can't someone check his/her IP? Block it perhaps?

If you want to do comic art here is what I suggest:
Start out with a 3h pencil to do the roughs.
Use a 2h to render the picture. This a popular combo amoung pros.. you should get a set of pencils and play around though to see which you prefer. Always start with a hard pencil and render with a soft one. If you start out with the soft pencils then it is just going to get messy.
Then ink it. I use cheap micron pens, but I'm not an inker. If you want to use brushes I'd suggest getting a cheap assorted pack to start and pelican ink.
I use a Magic Rub Eraser. Doesn't smear your pencils.
Most comic artist and companies use 2-ply smooth Bristol board to draw on.
The type of Bristol you use really depends on what you prefer. There are different types.. some smear easy.. some don't. Some have a different texture that the pencil catches.
Also, when you sketch it is best not to press hard with the pencil. Just let it flow. When you do your renders with a softer pencil the rough lines will fade away. This also makes it easy to erase and fix mistakes if you don't press hard.
Eh.. hope that helps. |

Spitfire... You sure?
I mean, it could be a combination... Dumb AND joking... thinking someone will actually appreciate what he's doing.
Or he's just stupid. You're right... he probably IS just stupid

Hell, gotta love the "sly-look-out-of-the-corner-of-your-eyes" smiley...
I need that one on a shirt to make up for my physical incapability of smiling like that myself. |
