I'm not a really great Photoshopper and colour picker and I'm still a "baby" if you compare me to many artists who post their art here...
But aah, I just keep practising...
Here's a practice picture I made, it's my 4th digital painting so far and it's made with a mouse.
This pic took me 3 hours (!!) to complete so I'm very sloooooow...
Anyway, I want some constructive criticism so I can use that for the next time I draw with Photoshop (5.0).
What am I doing wrong? What am I doing good? Do you have some suggestions or tips? Please let me hear...ok?
The resolution in which I draw was 3 times bigger than this...
Here's the pencil sketch: http://www.geocities.com/lange_pisang/Photoshop_Art/ThePlayWarehouse.jpg

i think its great! the numbers look kinda... i dunno, when the cloth is wrinkled the numbers will seem thinner than they would if the cloth were flat... but it seems like u just stuck the wrinkles on top of the flat number and kinda stretched the number. u know? it probably makes no sense, and i'm probably wrong. how bout someone else critique it? ^^; im not good at wrinkles. |

It's ok for a practice painting... You dont want to see my 4th practice image he-he
This will be much like what spooge have stated many times on this forum before... But I've found it really useful myself... I think it would save you from many problems if you started filling the white of the image first with different shades of what you might want to use for the characters/background (do this with a *damn* large paintbrush or even lasso areas and fill them with some color you might like to see on the image). Step after step you'll notice that you're creating more detailed image...
I cant tell too much about the wrinkles in the clothing, that's a problematic area for me...
Just keep on practising... Atleast I will

You choose quite difficult poses to draw which I think is good. There's a lot of foreshortening going on in your drawing and your not flinching away from tackling the more challenging aspects of laying out a composition.
I'd hazard a guess that you'd be good at sport type themes where the subjects are dynamic, and the poses are nontypical. Soccer, cycling, stuff like that.

First of all, thanks for replying!
...And here's another drawing with a "nontypical pose":
Anyway, I'm always drawing with grey/black pencils and I almost never try to colour my drawings. 2 months ago I turned into a 17 year old boy and I think, at that age, I'm a little bit late trying to use colours, that's one reason the coloured pic is a little bit messy and sucky-sucky...
Here's another blurry/messy digital painting (airbrush): http://www.geocities.com/lange_pisang/Photoshop_Art/SleepyHollowC.jpg
So, I still have to practice a lot and look how other people paint their stuff. I've seen Binke's new pic and it looks very good, I think I'll try to overdo this pic in """Binke's style"""...and I'll try to fix up the wrinkles and add a background...
Stay tuned...

I've modified the pic a little bit, still no background (that magic wand tool doesn't help me much) and still no other style, aah well, here it is:
Comments, critique, etc are more than welcome!
