Yeah, you probably get this a lot, but...

Can someone walk me through the process of posting pictures in this forum?

Perhaps most specifically is the question of what URL do I paste inside the img tags?

I hang my head in shame. (But it doesn't last long, so I skip merrily about my way.)

Sure.
Just use this formula:

{img}address{/img}

but instead of the { , use [ .
Remember to use the entire address, such as:
http://www.mysite.com/images/hello.jpg
