First off, let me tell you that I can fit all of my artistic talent into my pinky toe.
But I grabbed ahold of my man's wacom (which is pretty swanky...I haven't let go of it all day/night) and started doodling and I'm pretty proud of my first attempt.
Just so you know, I don't know jack about proportions. =)
Tell me what you think?

Notso- it looks pretty good, is it you first try with a wacom. The eye looks are nice. The hair I think needs a little more work.
If you start using references I believe you will start to get a feel for porportions. Find an image with a similar look to what you have in mind.
Again, Nice job on your wacom painting.
Oh, Is it Photoshop or Painter? |

constructive advice
look at references, such as photos of women you know...don't refer to catalogues or fashion magazines, unless that's what your aiming to go for e.g: fashion mags always have a bright light on the woman's face, blurring out any real detail.
Try to get a LARGE photo of someone you know, look at how the detail is in their eyes, mouth, nose, etc. Look at the lighting...build from a base man
starting from a black background *not always, but i like it* work with darker colours...unless you want a bright scene.
Try to get a background kicking in there...
if you can't do the background as well, cause it takes extra time...effort ...just
focus on zooming into those areas that are vital and filling in the blanks from there.
good luck, i'm waiting to see what you can produce!
