Do you guys read books and then you are so inspired that you just have to draw/paint a scene from the book?? Hmm.. Just wondering. Would be nice to see pictures and the text
phrases where the inspiration came or just the book title. Post.

"Fight Club" -- I have to admit I saw the movie first. But the books screams grittiness and texture.

"Neuromancer" -- Most of the stuff in the book has been done, but it still conjurs up cool imagery.

"The Great Gatsby" -- my alltime favorite. There is a movie, but my version is different.

"Moby Dick" -- yet another one that's been done. I think spooge nailed the look with his 20000 Leagues painting.

Those are the ones that leap to my mind.

Have you done any pictures? The idea was to
see the interpretation of book turned into graphical art. Movies are preconsumed for audiences, when books give more room for imagination..

Duh? Really?
Just jiving you.
I thought you were asking if we'd read any inspirational books. The ones I listed are inspirationial to me.
You said "..or just the book title," so that's what I wrote.

Okay. Inspirational books, but to what has born from that inspiration. Like Spooge's 20000 leagues under the sea. inspiration--> image. OR "Victoria's secret 2000 catalogue"--> >>some pretty pics of chicks??>> ..

I can't post any pictures for a while, so i'd like others post theirs. If you have done??

Spooge may have thought of his name while reading Playboy.

The articles, of course.

After reading David Zindell's mindblowing Requiem for Homo Sapiens series (Neverness, The Broken God, The Wild, War in Heaven) I was so damn impressed and inspired that I planned on doing some images based on scenes from the books. Sadly I haven't found the time yet to do so. Someday I shall..
Currently reading Peter F. Hamilton's The Nights Dawn trilogy (Hey Suma!) which is very visually written. Has some great ideas that are just screaming to be turned into pixels....
Sigh... so much to do.. so little time..

Danny.

ps.. Zindell is the God of Sci-Fi writers... Start reading!

There are pics that accompany some of these but I'm not gonna bore you with em again.

Good fiction books I've been inspired by are :-

"Dune", by Frank Herbert - The futuristic Feudal society fascinates.

"20,000 leagues under the sea", by Jules Verne - Full of wierd 19th century science madness.

"The Bridge", by Iain Banks - Wonderfully dark & industrial, livened up by some psychopathic Scots barbarian and his familiar who appear now and again throughout the story.

"The Lord of the Rings", by JRR Tolkien - not much I can say, defined a genre.

BladeRunner - a film based on a book by Philip K Dick.

I think the idea here guys is to post a pic inspired from a book. Right GoldenBoy?

Anyway, I've probably posted this several times.. not really inspired from a book. It was inspired by a friends roleplaying character for a game called Rifts. Supposed to be a post-apocalyptic mechanic of sorts.

Nice one Chapel.

Well, okay, here's an old sketch I did based on the Emperor Shaddam IV from Dune.

This was done about 2-3 years ago.

"The death gate cycle"

It is by far THE most origional and epic fantasy novel I have ever read! It's not like every other cheeze fantasy novel. If you hate fantasy, read The Death Gate Cycle.

Here are some books, that just like sucked me into their worlds.

Myst Book of Atrus - maybe not the best writing, but everythign about the book, including the old cover is sweet.

Hobbit/Lord of the rings - nuff said

Bionic Commando - ok...fine....its a Nintendo Power book aimed at kids from 4-12...but it was still cool.

Mars - cool

Space Oddesy

Starship Troopers - the original is actually amazing considering it was written in 1941 i believe.
