Hmmmmmm.....it's a very clean design granted that, but it's also a bit plain....block...looks like i'm looking at an ATARI.

It looks great. My only grudge with it is the thing that look likes a spider web below the news and left of the menu looks a bit out of place. I feel the whole design would look a little better without it in there.

hmmm
Very simple, easy to navigate, will fit standard screen rez with out having to scroll..
I like it. It doesn't have to have tons of bells and whistles to be a good design. I wouldn't settle for one idea though.

You're heading in the right direction though.
Try incorporating more text into your designs, some functional some not.
A little tec note: Your greeking needs work, try to make it resemble an actual text format, spaces, words etc. (under news)

Some things to think about in your current design: You grids in the background focus on the word GAMES, if this is the main focus of your site, then good job, if not try using something different for a background.
Black is over used in web designs, try using something that doesn't present such a void, experiment with contrasting or complimentary colors.
See where Art is over lapping that grid line? That's kinda disturbing to me, try to pay attention to things like, sometimes you can make em work, but it isn't happening in this case.
The gray squares are causing too much contrast with the rounded elements, try rounding the corners some more.
Don't put elements in there unless they play a part of the actual design, those squares in the upper left could work better if they where viewed as a pixilated square (with jaggies).
I'm guessing this is going to be done with vector work? If not, then this would be a great time to learn flash, your design would be a great starting point.
Also, try some overlapping of elements, all the elements of your design don't have to be perfectly spaced apart, it makes it look too stiff.
Just because I said alot, doesn't mean it's a bad design. I've been working my butt off lately doing webpages so it's good see someone post stuff like this in here.

Ooops, one more thing...
Typography...I mentioned it before, but...
Think of your text as a part of your design; don't treat it as a stand-alone element.
You could be 16 or 36, I don't know, but it's never too late to learn good design skills. Web pages offer people a great variety of options that designers never had before, mainly interactivity with out having to program. So keep at it! And post some more ideas when you get em done.
I'll see if I can post some of the "stuff" I've been doing.
