I have a AMD k6 233 mhz with 64 mb ram and a 32 mb Riva tnt2 graphics blaster, is this enough to run a wacom tablet without problems? Im planning to buy a a5 size tablet with USB connnection.

I think the tablet will run fine, but overally your machine is quite slow (and lacking memory) for some hi-res photoshop/painter activities. But.. I know couple of really good graphicians who use similar settings than yours, and they're making really good stuff... It's just a tool anyway he-he

Im not sure, but Id say its more about what software your pc can handle E.g. [B]Photoshop, painter[/B}. The tablet is really just a pressure sensitive mouse in pen format . If you can run photoshop with no trouble then your ok. But id say on a 233 with 64mb it wouldn't run excelelent but it will run sufficently.

Anyway correct me if im wrong

I think the tablet will run fine. but things will be slow becasue of your machine. you can get a lot out of a computer like that but you need to keep it clean and be very thoughtfull in the way you paint. cut bits out and paint them in another file to keep the size low, then past it back in etc.

Ram is probably the most important thing. but a fast HD and Processor help lots.

i got a pentium pro 200mhz 128MB ram a wacom intuos a6 serial... in photoshop v5.5 its not possible to do any good sketching or so.. it works better in both painter and photoshop v4.. but its still kinda jumpy from time to time... so if your motherbord can handle a faster cpu... buy one! since k6 cpus are very cheap...

Just for the record, up until 3 months ago I did all of my after hours artwork on a 486DX 100 with 32Megs of ram, and it ran Photoshop, Painter (Painter handled it very well) and a pressure sensitive Wacom tablet.

So to answer your question, I'm sure your computer is fine

Grant.

Just for the record. My Mom used to have an Apple IIe with a graphics tablet in her Classroom. I really want to get ahold of that thing and try to make some art with it. Maybe I'll dust off the Mac Classic and do some Macpaint stuff too.

I used a P-166 with 32 MB RAM up until a few days ago... Not saying my work is good, just that my crappy computer handled it fairly well...

PII 350Mhz MMX cpu / 64Mb RAM (Rarely Adequat Memory) / 8Mb ATI Rage Pro 2GX

Hmm.. well that was esoteric ! Anyway, the wacom works just fine EXCEPT for a lil' thing.
When I sketch or when my stroke is very fast, photoshop considers the third or fourth stroke as a 100% presure input. Grr.. Maybe it just thinks it's a double click.. Gotta check the settings.

egerie i'm getting the same stuff here (athlon700) when photoshop lags behind - a sudden stroke of full pressure. irritating.

if you figure out why it happens, be sure to tell the rest of us =)

eetu.
