Hi there and welcome

There is a whole bunch of stuff on these subjects in past threads. so if you want the indepth info have a look around.

Whether to start from a sketch is a subject there is no real answer to. People seem to be able to create good stuff either way. If you want to work on putting the colour in, and working out your lighting etc as opposed to working out composition it might be an idea to use a sketch if you are comfortable with a pencil.
I do feel that being able to use your app for the initial drwaing is going to help you out in using it for everthing else. But I noticed that most of your stuff uses line and it is hard to get line drawing happening on the computer.

I use both techniques for differnt things. I find myself wanting the ability to sketch with big areas of colour when I'm working in a sketch book and I want too get nice clean lines in Photoshop. But I can't do either simply because of the technical limitations.

I can't use painter to save my life but I've got Photoshop figured out pretty well. Others are the opposite it's very strange. Definitly no answer there.

I must stress that there is a huge amount of imesurably informative information if you take a look at the stuff people like "Fred Fick Stone" and "spooge demon" have writen (there are a heap of others).
Use the search and look up thier posts. Filter through them and you'll learn a lot
