I'm having a bit of a problemo with my new(ish) Wacom Intuos tablet, and was wondering if anyone else had come across the same problem, or maybe even a fix.

I'm working on a G4, and whenever I'm working on a decent sized file, by Wacom starts ignoring clicks, insisting on selecting all for no reason whatsoever, and even putting Photoshop on hold while the pens position is being registered.

Obviously, this is a major pain in the ass, and I don't seem to be getting too far with either Adobe or Wacom. If anyone has any fixes or suggestions, I'd be very grateful.

I on a PC, but I can relate to the frustration. On my machine, the 'X' (foreground/background color swap) hotkey only once every so often, and it is a hotkey that I use VERY VERY frequently (next to Alt+click for color picking). I broke my keyboard when I lost patience...

Basically, don't whack your G4 or Wacom, they're slightly more expensive than keyboards. =)

Thanks for your help guys.
I'm trying out your suggestions and I'll let you know with another winge session if it still screws up

Tzekin, I never got around to setting up any custom settings for Photoshop in the Wacom control panel, so it shouldn't be that unless it's my settings for 'all applications'. I'll try trashing that if it keeps occuring.

I've got some good tips from Charles, which I'll try out. Unfortunately, the 4.5.2 driver won't download for me, so I'm getting a friend to test it from his computer, to see if it's anything on my side causing the error.

Photoshop already had over 100mb ram, but I've boosted it to 200 to see if that helps.

And, um ... I've kinda got a 160w stereo with super woofers on the desk with the speakers strategically placed around my computer (much better stress relief than breaking keyboards! ). when the problem next occurs, I'll make the ultimate sacrifice and *gulp* try turning my music off.

Alternatively, I'll try moving the tablet away from the monitor.

Charles, I'm running Photoshop 5.0 on OS 9.0.4 with 640mb of ram. I don't know if thats the magical recipie for disaster or not, but I'm hoping (praying) that trying all this will get it running smooth.

Thanks for you help everyone, and if anyone has any other suggestions, I'd be more than happy to hear them.

I had a similar problem. if you have custom setings for Photoshop in your Wacom control panel delete them and creat a new set. This worked for me

AAARGH! $*!% $@! It's still happening! I've tried everything suggested: more ram, losing the musak, distancing the tablet from the screen, the new Wacom driver, and still it's screwing up. In fact, it almost seems to be worse!

Is there anything else that I could try? This is really fucking up my workflow, and I'm getting desperate.

when i runned my wacom in XFree86 and used gimp and played mp3s my intous got a life on its own... but i relate that to a slow CPU. cos when i stop the mp3 player it stops.
but the G4 shouldnt have that problem?
well i dont have much experience of mac. but maybee if theres some kind option or something thats not as i should be, so it slows down the CPU or something... (i know portable pcs have that option)
