Hey guys. I'm just starting out in Photoshop and I think I'm moving fairly quicly. My problem is, could someone explain to me how to combine specific layers together into one layer? I know about Flatten Layers, but I just want to put a couple layers together instead of all of them. Thanks. |

Link the layers that you wish to combine.
Then select merge linked from the layer menu.

You can hide all the layers you don't want merged and then go Merge visible. Or you can put the to be merged layers on top of eack other, select the top one and click merge down (I think that's what it is?)

just click the layer above the layer you want to merge, and hit Ctrl+E
thats the shortcut for merging in adobe 4.0 to adobe 5.5 |

What they say is true with one caviat and that is if you have your layers on specific modes i.e. multiply, screen ....Sometimes if you merge these as a visible thing instead of flattening it will give you an entirely different and not necassarily desired effect.
