This is something I drew for art class
(9th grade.)It's my very first perspective-
drawing of street on the island
Wangerooge, in the northern sea before
Germany. What do you think?
How should I begin to color it (digitally)?

Well, lets start with the fact that it appears that inverse perspective was used... very neo-picaso. The vanishing point is actually someplace behind the viewer! Incredible work!

Er, sorry, being a little sarcastic. Anyways, the point of perspective drawings like this one (obviously trying to be 1 point perspective) is that all lines not perpendicular to the viewer should merge on one point.

The perspective in the image below is off too, as I moved the vanishing point to above the horizon line (which is where it should almost always be for one point perspective).

I put the line up there to make it easier to see where the perspective lines where going to. In reality, the vanishing point would be right where that road disappears into the distance... or there about. (Probably lower since it's on a hill, and not really the true horizon.)

Well, I'm done confusing the hell out of you. Enjoy... hoped that helped in some small way.

Actually most of the lines of the houses
are correct that way. it's a very hilly
palce, maybe not the best example
for a perspective drawing but i got an
A anyways so whatever

Exactly - there should still only be one horizon line for the whole image.

oops - guess you'd call that a "two-point" perspective...

I think it's actually more interesting this way than if the perspective was perfect; emphasizes the "hillyness" of the scene.

I think a non-realistic coloring would complement this effect well.

sitting on one of those way too small
school chaired. And I did know how to
draw perspective before, it's just
the first time I tryed on a realistic scene.
I've done another one but my teacheress is
keeping it till after summer vacation.

maybe its just the fact that your lines are really wobbly and you obviously didnt use a ruler to make the lines neater...makes it seem as if they dont go with the perspective

Wow, you started perspective in High School? I actually figured out 1 and 2 point on on my own in 3rd grade. ^_^ I guess this drawing is different, but remember that even if a house is built on a hill they'll build a frame underneath so that the actual house is still flat. Imagine trying to drink a glass of water in the house on the right side of the pic.
