i was wondering if anyone in here would ever want/use a program that could create a perspective sheet for them? ive been messing around lately and im working on a program where you can plot a "vanishing point", and it will generate a horizon line and perspective gridlines shooting out of the point. basically it can help people who paint with perspective and such.

if theres already a program that does this, tell me and ill stop wasting my time =], otherwise, anyone want it when its finished?

I was just thinking of that kind of program the other day and how much help it would be, like a filter in Photoshop. I was thinking about autocad or whatever its called how it probobly makes this stuff a lot easier. It sure is a waste of time doing 2 point perspectives.

psi,
That sounds cool. It would sound better if it worked with Photoshop.
Another thing that would be good would be a way to generate lines at a desired angle in Photoshop. For example, you draw a line, the program saves the angle, then you can draw other lines at the same angle.

Please let me know what happens.

well i made an ability to copy the perspective image to the clipboard or save it, so you could bring it into adobe to use yourself.

Have you thought about looking through the Photoshop plugins SDK to create a plugin?

I'd like the program, if it's for download

You can do this in any 3-d program. Just duplicate a bunch of cubes around or get fancy and measure squares, whatever you want. Render it out as a wireframe and overlay it in PS. Play with lenses, even put a drawing behind it as a template to see your errors in figuring out a lens.

Spooge,
I think what psi's talking about would help in drafting in PS. Going from a top-down view to a perspective view obviously takes a large canvas. It would be nice to be able to set several vanishing points and angles and be able to draw lines based on them later.
