in case nobody else has answered your question yet, when you save a jpg, you can determine the quality you save with. the lower the quality, the more 'artifacts' you'll find on the image - areas where the jpg compression starts to change colors to save space.
if you're using photoshop and you save a file, after entering the name you'll be prompted with a "JPEG options" windows which has the jpg quality scale, ranging from 1 (low) to 12 (maximum). you can move the slider or just type it in. when posting artwork, i use high or maximum quality. (9-12 i believe)
if you want to get really exact, the "save for web" option has a lot more levels to play around with, especially for gif files.
if you're using paintshop pro, i know there is a similar option when saving jpgs, but i'm not sure exactly what it looks like. in my experience tho, paintshop pro saves jpgs at a much lower quality than photoshop regardless of the settings you choose.
...and if you're using something other than photoshop or paintshop pro, i suggest getting one of the two.

Thank you everyone. Yep, I know the hand is a bit on the thin side, also, so much fixative on it now, too late to change. (I don't feel like drawing her again) LOL
And hennifer...I thank you so much for your help here with the jpg thingy. I use CorelDraw and it has similliar features to what you mentioned. I was keeping it all as low as I could so that my pics would open quicker and save space on my hard drive..But I will try what you sujested. Thanks

Yes, please do! It's a shame to keep your pictures defaced like that. And by the way never ever ever ever save your originals in jpeg. JPEG is a lossy format, which means that every time you save in JPEG you lose some quality. Always save in a format which isn't lossy, such as CDR, PSD, 24-bit BMP, TGA, etc... depending on the program you're using...
