This was a pastel drawing scanned and then the computer did it's thing.

My opinion:
get rid of eyecandy. Remove the fire effects, the semi-flare thingies.
Get rid of the bevelled red/yellow gradient background, make the pic take the whole CD cover.
Pick a more interesting font than Times New Roman, and probably a more interesting colour too.
Then it will look good, because the drawing is pretty cool...
Right now, I really don't like it.
