Two evenings(from, oh 10-2 or 3 I guess), partly just working out different designs. It's for a bid for a freelance project doing designs of this sort. Used Painter. Has anyone noticed that water colors in Painter seem to be the most useful tool? They can alternately behaive like markers, water colors, or even a weird pseudo-oil material. Anyway, my thing isn't 2d, so hack away at it if ya like. ^_^
Here's the big one: http://www.health-food.net/images/cath1.jpg
Any of you concept artists(or normal ones) have any tips on this type of drawing? I only ever do this stuff for my 3d models, and not to show to others.

Seems to be up now - hope it doesn't go down often. The image is very large(600k), so let it load a bit.

Very clean.
Two things I will mention then shut my yap, is use one point perspective to draw out the receding sides of the bricks. As of now, they are flat, like the view of the bricks from in front. Kinda hard to see the depth. The perspective grid will really help that out...
Also, those two really huge windows, unless you have a really huge glass making facility, those pieces of glass are jusst too unbelieveably huge. More lattice divisions in the glass would really help it, not to mention just making them into many windows, that form that large arch would probably do it some good as well.

I agree with Fred's comments and have to add one more..the first impression I get from looking at this drawing..and it isnt an insult, but is a deck fo playing cards (yes, I am 100% sober). It just reminds me of cards for some reason..anyone else get that impression? Perhaps too many crosses are the reason? Beats me. Nice work though

Thanks for the feedback guys, it means a lot to me. Instead of fixing this one, I'm going to do another one...I know, I'm nuts. Worthy-you're right, a lot of my decoration is like what you might expect the Royal suit to have, and the diamonds and such are certainly similar. Maybe it's the Cathedral for Wonderland? ^_^
