Yes, this definitely feels like an electronica piece.
I find that most electronica inspired artwork or CD covers tend to use the cooler shades of colour such as Blue, Grey, Green, and sometimes a bit of Purple.
Is there a meaning behind this artwork? What is the symbolism of the bald person with a plug outside his head? I figured that it means that he is listening to music and digital music at that, and that's why there's a plug and a plug hole as a ear. But, perhaps it would be better if it was already plugged in instead of being on top of his head to emphasise music being transmitted into or out from that man.

The picture is of a body without a mind. The jack and the cable represent the mind. The mind is unplugged from the body. Thats my depiction of it. What do you think of it? |

I would put the plug closer to the socket to make the connection. The first time I saw the image I thought the plug was supposed to simulate being plugged into the mind, but now with your explanation, I understand it, but again, like in most good illustration, the idea needs to be conveyed in the image so anyone can grasp it, if there is something specific you are trying to acheive, make a couple iterations of it and pick the one visually that best represents your message to be conveyed.
The rest of the wallpaper looks great. Nice and monochromatic. Very pleasing to the eye... |

maybe if you had modelled your own head instead of taking an example-head that comes with Rhino, but either way, its pretty good.
ill be posting some wallpapers ive done recently up here once i find a server.

I wanted the pic a little discreet. So it takes the viewer a few seconds to realize the jack and the input in the head. I used the demo head because that is the perfect one for the pic and since I am very new to 3d I didn't want to waste time making another one. |

Oooh noooooooooooooooo,
u've used the head included in a tutorial of the Rhino package. I don't like this thing, but is it-overall-a good dezign.
I don't like use models made from others in 3d stuff, as i don't like use filters in ps.
U can't let the man understand HOW u've done your work.
I want to say a thing to u, Mantis. i've seen to your uncompleted site and so the entrance pic and the Korn one. I think that is it better that u dedicate yoursef to graphic design, including also 3d, and not to digital drawing. Just improve your skills in what u were born to do. I think u're good as a graphic artist.
Don't care too much, i just hope to be useful to your improvement. |

Nur what do you mean?
I am not a good artist but an OK digital artist. Eh, I don't know whether to take it as a compliment or insult. Could you elaborate?
I agree with you all. The stock head in the pic should not be used. I will keep this wallpaper on layaway until I have developed enough skills in Rhino to make my own head. Thanx for the comments all. I am going to *try* to model my own head. Wish me luck. |

Mantis, Nur et all-
I used to work with a guy named Bay who has since moved on to become the lead character designer/modeller at WETA (the place theyre making Lord of the Rings). Anyways..he has some good tips on not only how to make a good character, but to make the 3d model itself GOOD/solid..etc.
He is the best character artist I know..though I do not think that is reflected in his limited website. http://www.spiraloid.com
check it out!

Yeah..I worked for Nichimen with Bay a while ago. Hes a ruthless artist..Top drawer stuff everytime..and dang quick too.
Anyways..the best aspect of Nichimen's Mirai and Nendo software is how straightforward and easy it is for modelling. I dont want to sound like a salesman, but Gran Turismo, Finaly Fantasy 7, 8, Super Mario 64 and other games were made by Nichimen's modeling tools, as well as the upcoming Lord of the Rings. I personally think its wayy better than Max and Lightwave (though Synj does some amazing stuff with LW). And Maya? Great package..but nurbs..blech I heard Nichimen, now called WET (Winged Edge Technologies) will work with any client for the price of Mirai..so maybe you can get a copy for like..$500..very nice! I recommend the demo of Nendo though.. www.nichimen.com
If you have any questions about it..or help with any 3d models..Id be glad to attempt to help..though I am quite positive there are some rippin' 3d modelers on this site

Wow worthy, your friend's art is excellent and his tutorials helped a bunch. This might be weird but someone gave me a "Loony Toons Animation" book once. It helped a lot, especially for expressions and motion. I read an article for Nichemin in Game Developer(magazine), it produces amazing curves and it's rendering capabilities are boundless. |
