Well, this is a portrait I made in a couple evenings of my character Red Sword. I've played him since Might and Magic 2, where he was one of my Knights. By Ultima Online he had matured into a very strong drunken Scottish warrior. He became pretty well known for running around drunk all the time, recklessly fighting monsters too strong for him. However, he's changed since then-it's easy to see it in his eyes in the portrait.
A couple things in mind if you're going to critique it: 1)The portrait is for in-game use(Baldur's Gate series), and will be displayed at 100x150, so I painted accordingly(ie; weird light source, more obvious colors), and 2)there's no shadow from the sword on purpose. That said,

i like how his hip juts out.
give the gloves more detail? give them a bit of sheen to make them look leather? the other textures are pretty obvious so you can tell what the materials are, it's just the gloves which are ambiguous.
the sword guard looks a bit skewed but i like the blade! i did the same red thing just recently! hehe
looks good.

| That's some nice metal on this guy. Looks pretty cool, the free hand looks a bit off thumb wise. |

Ayh, that'd be one ugly woman...especially once he took his clothes off. Eek! BTW, you guys were right about the gloves-I just decided to cut it off.
