A concept creature I am working on ... I am experimenting with flat 2d coloring so I decided to color this sketch. The reason why he doesnt have a lower body is because I havent decided what type of bone structure he is gonna have .. I dont want it to be Too humanoid .. well here it is
Comments - suggestions more than welcome:

I absolutely love 2D flat shading. It's my favorite style. I'm glad to see more people trying it out!

Don't get me wrong, I love traditional shading as it can produce fantastic results, but in my opinion, 2D flat shading is very classy/clean if done right.

I'd like to see more, osk!

Hello echo

I like the second one much better osk, looks more solid, its a nice style guy. Looks inspired by the capcom concept artist as Kyri said. I'd like to see it more worked into. *Turns over egg timer* ok get goin =p

to Hennifer:
The Max was/is excellent, does it have a Site ? Or any art sites about it ? I loved that when it was on, is it still on in the US ?

thank u again for the comments
Kyri: I am a very big fan of the old school street fighter and eventhough this was not at all inspired by their art .. now that I look at it . the style I drew it in does remind me of it too .. cool!

Shadow: I am using 3dstudio max 3.1

Cos: thank u but unfortunately this is just a concept for a 3d character so I wont be working it in more . I am considering it making it my Website Mascott .. so I might do other poses like this ones .. but I think I will keep them falt 2d I rather like it like this .

here is how the character is coming along ..
I am keeping it under 700 polygons , because I need practice with low poly models .

Please feed back ..

Oh by the way his name is TARO ..

osk, this looks heavily influenced by the Maxx, and Calibretto (a character from the comic Battlechasers)

either way, looks nice n simple

Osk, you're character looks great! I like the
bottom one a lot. The style reminds of the Capcom Streetfighter artist. Really great work.

i have no idea if there's a maxx site. back several years ago, i got the first couple issues of the maxx, but i dropped out of comic collecting after that. i know mtv did a bit of a series on the maxx. maybe you'd be able to find something through them? ..or a simple websearch? i'm sure there are plenty of fansites out there.
