Hey guys...Wanted to say what's up? I haven't had a chance to post here in a while, because I haven't had any new stuff (and I've also had artists block) -- But, I love posting works in progress because it gives me the chance to get critiqued by some of the finest artists I've ever seen...So, do your worst!
If anyone could give me some feedback, help me look for mistakes while the image is early in it's rendering, I'd much appreciate it. Thanks in advance for any feedback!
~{V}~
P.S. I updated the layout to [most of] my site...Check it out using the link in my signature if you want. =P

'Goth,
Hey man! Looks cool....I liker her boots.
Her hair appears a little stiff, to my
amatueur eye, though. Is it fixed that
way or is there a wind? I like the shines
of the black hair, though. If there is a
wind, I would offer that the hair should be
blowing straight back....just my two bits,
looking forward to the finished version!

Yeah, I was actually going for a more stylized look to the hair, because realistic looking hair is so hard to get down...Besides...Half the goths I know put all sorts of shit in their hair to make it stiff anyway...lol
~{V}~
P.S. She's supposed to be lying on the ground, with pleats of hair going out...Didn't quite get the desired effect though...hehe

Your figure is missing a shoulder blade, that may help add some more depth to the back area. Then again, that void in the torso area may add more to your subject matter, it's up to you.
If she is on the ground, we would see more of the underside of her chin, because her shoulder would keep her head from laying flat.
Also, when you add more info the image, adding a cast shadow on the ground will help anchor her body to a surface.
The cross is constantly drawing my eyes to your face, is that the main area of focus? If not, you may want to reconcider it's positioning. You could move it to the right more and use the bold sharp outlines of the cross to break up the thin soft curve of her back. By moving the cross to the right, it would also seperate it more from the figure and could be read as she has left religion behind her. (just a suggestion)
Just as it is now,you have some very strong graphical elements that can be used to convey different messages, so it's up to you how you want us to look at it.
I saw the original version on your page, so i'm not sure if you're going with the same subject matter or not.
Keep us posted on the progress, great stuff.

Yeah, I'm going for many of the same interest elements of the original piece...Thanks a grip for looking at the original one...hehe
Ahh...Shoulder blade... I did have that on the original piece, but I haven't blocked the shading in on this one yet...
Good note about the underside of the chin...I didn't even think about that...hehe
Yeah...The focus of the image is pretty much her upper-body/facial area, because that's what conveys the emotion in the image.
I'll be adding more of the shading and stuff later...Right now, I'm basically working on structure, and comments like yours, samdragon are exactly the ones I need.

Yep, the 80's dorm god. You nailed it. thanks for the name!
look at some of his stuff, it reminds me alot of what your doing now Visigoth, in style not subject matter. I'm sure you've seen his stuff before. Back in the 80's his stuff was everywhere.

Heya Visi, always see you in #digitalart, but haven't talked to you in a while.
Great great image you got working there; a very refreshing style. I agree, the hair does look a little odd. Not in the fact that it's standing up in spikes, but that some of the hair looks "stuck" onto her scalp (I put an extreme amount of stuff in my hair to make it stand up, so much that I can carry a boulder on the spikes ). Maybe have the stuck pieces flow a little better, or where they stand up show the scalp around the base to show that it is some of her hair.
The cross seems a little odd. Odd in that the circle behind it is not really a circle, but more of a rounded rectangle. Not really sure about what you were going for, but some of the straight edges where the shape meets the cross really caught my eye. (looks more like 4 different shapes than one underlying shape)
The figure is great, albeit the mention of the shoulder blades and the smoothness of her back. Maybe I'm just used to seeing dinosaur backs Her arms seem a little small, but that may just be me.
I absolutely love the boots and the arm bands/full arm band on her right arm. I reeeeaaally want those
Great job, looking forward to it's fin.

Thanks Cos! It will be a poster, actually...Printed on 18x24" 80lb glossy... Should turn out good... -- I got a question for whoever is interested in answering it;
Which do you guys use for shading...Airbrush, or paintbrush? What do you use to clean up your strokes? Smudge, or blur? I'm still learning how to use all these tools and stuff, so any opinions would be appreciated.
