Hello,

I've been reading through this BBS for awhile and most of the messages are really helpful (and somewhat entertaining at times). Anyway, I was wondering if anyone could give me some tips on the anatomy of the torso. Here's something I've sketched and somethings seems wrong. I would also like some tips on perspective. Anyway, thanks in advance.

bare bonez,

I see what you mean. your anatomy should look more like this:

please note the big sacky extending from the torso which is not shown in your current piece.

Hello and welcome!
It seems like you'll need to study the structure of muscles more and how it all hangs together. I wanted to give it a try myself, but i don't feel too secure in that area either.
Anyway here's my try:

I think that other can help you out better
(Fred, Joachim, Frost, Mozeman, Sedone)
I think they are more qualified than me when it comes to this.

http://www.bodybuilder.org/gallery/

This should help a bit for male anatomy..

Side note: Of course its important to have some schematics in mind when drawing anatomy and I think maybe fred or somone else could jump in and help there.

Can anyone engage the "fred-light" please and point it to the sky?

The rib charge should come out a tad more then the 6 pack and make where the ribs meet a little more rounder... The pectorials should be a tad rounder (not enough to make him look of the female sex). And the way he has his arms up his rib chage should come up higher somewhat like he would look if he was inhailing. But yeah the arms look great, and I like how you used squares... I use circles...
Hey and one more thing.... like the face on the other side of the paper!

Shadow, you have to use ubb code:

just type: (IMG)link to image(/IMG)
and replace my () with []

had to use () so it wouldnt try to post

And bare bonez, i like your sketch. I think you just need to look at some old comic books. Look at some spiderman mid-sections, or something...

Bare bonez: I dunno how much my image is exactly the way it should be, specially the arm.. The arm is porportionally way off. but maybe it might serve as a good reference image for you.

Hey I wanted to thank everyone for their insight. It helped alot. Um.. I used almost all of your suggestions in a new pic, which I'll post in another thread, 'cause now I need help on landscape. The only tip I couldn't use was synj. I just couldn't get the balls to come out in the new pic . Anyway, this place is pretty friendly. Thanks for all the help.
