Sorry for the non sequiter but does anyone know of a program that can actually divide a file into smaller files? I got win RAR expecting it to do just that but it doesn't. Help!

You should check WinFiles. I don't know for sure if they have a program that will do what you're looking for, but it's a good place to check. Search for compression tools or something, they might have what you need.

WinRAR should be able to do that. Just set the 'volume size' in the archive settings dialog you get when creating the RAR archive to the desired size of the individual files.
