Whats wrong with the shading? Granted, no shading is ever perfect. Its pretty consistant on those 2 parts you mentioned. And who gives a flip about the date. |

The boots (both of them) and the elbow pad look really flat compared to the rest of the image. You could try to make them apear more curved, cause that guys feet are gonna be really really sore!
As for the date, your copyright is not legal if it isn't acurate.
Oh, If you weren't looking for constructive crit, you really shouldn't post anything! |

Lonedragon... what you said was perfectly fine. I don't liek when people come across as " *Shrug*" or somehow they give the impression that they don't mean well. It'd be liek me saying. {your picture is ok} :::vomits on floor::: lol.. ok that was a silly example. Even if they really do. I see your point dragon. Thank for the <<USEFULL>> crit and not just pointing out whats wrong. OK I'm tired goodnight.
Automobile
sorry about the date, Huck, I get confussed with 1's and 0's sometimes. :P |

I think its your light source that confusing things a bit in your picture, Swampbug.
The light is coming from the right, but all your main highlights on the face etc. are on the left--the same side as the shadow your alien is casting.
My suggestion would be to shift the cast shadow to the RHS, with a few highlight tweaks here and there (right shoulder pad, calf, boot etc.). You'd lose the interesting shadow profile, , but it would be easier than entirely redoing the main figure.
Anyway, imho, its a good pic.
PS. There's a black area btn the body & right arm. Maybe its just me, but it looks like something was missed out.

swamp: have you read Fred's tutorials he's posted here? the first thing I notice wrong with the head is that there is no hot and dark spots there. it's all wishy-washy yellows, and no blacks or whites. perhaps you should increase the contrast like you have on the shirt, which looks good to me.
the legs look awkward because 1) there is no shadow for the belt, 2)it looks too "formed" remember, there's cloth around it, so you're not going to see the perfect form of the leg unless he's wearing spandex, (if he is, I should have never come here..heh)
also, the edges onthe boots are strange..too sharp perhaps..
anyway, nice pic! I love the detail! btw, what's that thing on his back? |

Oops. Its too late at night, I'm not making any sense. So I'll just scrap my bit of waffle, and go to bed.
