Did we get inspired by the Spooge? Looks similar in pallette to the Lord of the Rings stuff he has been posting. Lots of nice textures in the image. Especially in the armor.
The rider and horse in the dragon's hand don't look scared, terrified, panicked or any of that. They look a little too posed. I would imagine also that by the size of the grip on the dragon, that the rider would be pinned under the fingers. Could be very wrong on that one, but ther is just something not quite right about the interation of that particular part of the image...I also just realized that you have island sized dragons in the picture. The one behind that castle is just so darn massive, I don't see how any army could ward those suckers off...How long has this taken. And how did you produce the armor textures, they are really convincing. |

DeathGrip - I love this painting! It ROCKS!
I like the sparing use of colors - and that metal is AWESOME! It really has a nice feel to it and the details you put in it are fantastic!
What sticks out for me is the knight and demon hand... They look great - but since they're farther away than the knights at the bottom of the screen, it breaks the excellent use of contrast fading as things go into the distance - know what I mean? That's even if he is the black knight Perhaps darkening the face of the knight in the bottom left would balance it more for me - or lightening either one of the 3 elements in the sky (big hand, knight or horse).
Also, the horse's black mein on my monitor blends in completely with the arm. Perhaps some back lighting as you've done so nicely with everything else might separate the two a bit - or you can buy me a new monitor
Man, I keep looking at that metal - amazing! Woohoo!
What a great concept. This is a real winner!

That is amazing. I love it. The color scheme and overall mood is perfect. The armor is AWESOME. The detail is incredible on everything. The only things I would work on are:
1) The knight's faace in the foreground. The chin should extend further downward, the mouth should be a bit smaller, and those teeth shouldn't be so long and thin.
2) The rider's pose is too stiff. I know, I know, it's hard to be loose and flexible when wearing heavy armor, but it just doesn't look like he's struggling or even surprised.
But besides those two things, everything else about this pic is perfect. The grass and the sky are unbelievable. And I don't think I've ever seen such good use of a lens flare, it looks great. Awesome job, Deathgrip.

Is that guy in the lower left screaming at that lens flair in the middle of the image? Very nice metal though! |

Okay gonna try my best to answer all the comments I can, Well that knight/horse were the very first things I did in the picture, and I'm not very happy with it, and too lazy to change his weird pose, but I am gonna work with it a little bit, I know what your thinking, lens flare, crap..well I'd have to agree, but it really needed something right there. The metal took lots and lots of research, and I'd be lying if I said I didn't take most of it from photo refrence. also, the grass I just made a custom brush. Oh and it took me about a month or two on and off.
