man let it go, no need for tributes. You should make a tribute to the guy who made the photo.... |

i'd say that the cheek is too concave. also, there should be at least a HINT of a neck - right now it looks like her head is being swallowed in a whirlpool of hair.
she's also lacking a left eyebrow (our right), because the bridge of her nose seems to end abruptly at the eye. take a look at the other eyebrow & the way the nose meets it. both eyes should be like that.
i'd suggest worrying more about these proportion issues before you get into stylistic things like fancy hair or really smooth fleshtones. |

hey it's about time!!...this is the stuff I'm looking for.....I'll see what I can do to fix it......I haven't seen any of your stuff yet hennifer...why don't you post some art?...and about the hair it comes all the way around her face, covering her neck, I didn't do a very good job of portraying it though and with out doing the whole body it would be hard to do anyway....when I get a chance I'll get back to this piece, I have something else I'm working now, but thank you very much for the input.....so you thought the hair was fancy, and my flesh tones were smooth? |

Hi ozenzo, you obviously spent time on this image. It's good. To work more on it, if realism is what you're goal is, these would be my humble opinions:
Eyes...
- I agree with hennifer about the brows
- There doesn't seem to be upper eyelids - perhaps defining them more would be good.
- I don't know what the photo looks like, but I would expect there to be a space between the mascera and the actual eyes.
- The pupils seem like they should be darker to me
Nose...
- The nostrils seem to sketched with outlines, rather than holes to me.
- Maybe play with the shadow line on the left side of the nose as it runs from top to bottom (looks broken at spots and too sharp at spots... to me, anyway).
Lips...
- I would expect the 'v' part in the upper-lip to be a little bigger (but I don't know what the photo looks like.
- The shadow line above the 'v' part (does anybody know what that's called?!) looks too far to the right at the base of the nose to me
- Her lower left looks flat because of the rounded shape, if it curved inwards more a bit, it might be good
- Sharper specular hightlight (like real lipstick)
Cheekbone...
- I think it's fine... the problem for me is that there is too little flesh between the cheek and the chin
Chin...
- There's no shadow around the chin - nor the side of the head (at least from my perspective). I would expect there to be at least a little bit.
- The area just behind the lips on her right seems too sharp of a line making her cheeks look too sucked in (on her right)... this accentuates the fact that her left cheekbone sticks out (again, because of the lack of flesh between it and the chin)
Neck...
- Again, same as hennifer.
Hair...
- It's good that you treated the hair as a mass, but the actual dark lines, especially in the lower-right quadrant of the image, seem too sketchy to me (compared to the work you did with the face).
- I think this just takes patience. Do a search in this forum for tips on doing 'hair'... you'll find many.
So, ozenzo, I hope I haven't discouraged you... these are all just my opinions and it really depends on what you are going for. Realism is not my fort, so take what I say with a sack of cheese
Good luck and I hope to see a new version in this thread if and when you decide to make one!

I didn't want an exact copy of the photo, but if you want to check it out it's off of a cd cover Kate Bush The Kick Inside,
she is one of my favorite artist's(musicwise)..and it was more of a tribute to her than anything....I see what you are talking about and I'm going to try and correct it |
