beautiful coronas too around the second one. Really, excellent work. Is the second one a colourized (colorised?) version of the first? Or is it a totally different sphere. It's getting hard to differentiate all these geometric primitives...

The 2nd image is really a photograph I took with my webcam. I used a flash light on a steelie marble to figure how the different kinds of shadows that were cast.  |

hmm.
i was going to post my opinion on reflected light here (again).
i even painted my version of that cube.
but now that i look at the photograph, i seem to be just plain wrong.
.. move along.. nothing to see..

Hi nori, good to practice stuff like this! My comments would be:
- Try playing with what is in focus and what is a little blurred. This contrast can make the difference between realism and artificial paintings.
- The webcam image has a reflection of the ball's shadow on itself as far as I can see.
- Is the steely ball a perfect sphere? Otherwise, I'd expect to see some imperfections in it.
