I thought i'd have a go at speed drawing. I've been bogged down with a lot of stuff that just takes loooong to draw at work so as a little stress relief i thought i'd try drawing real fast and leaving it finished in an unfinished state

It'd be interesting to see other's speed drawings too! if you havent tried it give it a go! its hella fun.

RE: tutorial
I've actually started working on a new one like 5 times already but i never get passed working more than 30 minutes because it just isnt coming out the way i'd like. I realize i sound like a broken record by saying "yeah i'm working on it" but thats all i can say . Things are kinda busy for me lately, but i really hope to adjust my schedule to be able to work on it and get it out to you all soon.

In the mean time i think these forums are an awesome place to learn more about the art and there are plenty of VERY talented people (really dude! i'm amazed at a lot of the work some of you do) whom you can learn from too.

so basically i'm saying: sorry for taking so dang long... but i will try hard to get it as soon as i humanly can, and thanks for your patience

cheers

Thats a pretty cool pic.

I know what u mean by too long. There's nothing worse than drawing an image,(girl in my case), and having the whole color scheme and cool, detailed, fun backround and all the little eye candy finishing touches in your head ready to go.......and you realize you still have to sit and patiently line it.

Here's a SUPERQUICK (5min) sketch made in Painter.
I did it just to test out the recordoptions, so I've only kept the animation
-I really hate doing the linesketching on computer

If you bother, you can download it here(806kb): http://home.sol.no/~jbarrum/sketch.zip

Ah damn, it doesn't work, I think. Nah, who cares.

Interesting topic.
Here's a mech I did in what, lets say 16-17min with my mouse, I really like doodling fast pics like these.. and I kinda like it more then the finishing result unfortunately...:-\
Because when I refine it, I usually just mess it up..

Oh yeah, love that Bruce Lee picture, Micke

What an arrogant little prick.
It's a quick self-portrait attempt. Maybe not quite quick enough to be really speedy, I have a tendency to get stuck going over parts of an image over and over again, so it took me maybe an hour. I lack the experience with portraits to be able to work fast.

On the other hand, in comparison to most stuff I do, this WAS fast. And quite fun, too.

Dear god this sucks, but i forced myself not to go into detail. And yes the idea sprouted from dhabih's pic. God this is hard to put up, but i'm like what the hell, it's fun to post it.

Affected, your portrait moved me. The simple colors, thoughtful/pensive expression and graphic style blend extremely well. Your skills combined with a speedy approach bring out life and energy for me.

Yeah, Dhab, that is exactly the way I feel sometimes. Doing these quickies is the best way to learn and stay un-anal and keep the important stuff foremost in the brain.

Subject appropriate to the thread, here is my trilobyte car.

Hi,
hey cool thread!!
Spooge, I can't believe that was a quick drawing. Blimey mate! Looks awsome!!
I did this one a little while ago. I can't remember exactly how long it took but it wasn't too long. Drawing like this is great for relieving stress I've found, heh, heh.
