Hi there,
I have been lurking about for a while (about a week or so) and I thought I would stop hanging in the shadows and introduce myself. BTW my real name is Eric Seiler, not that anyone here would have any clue who I am, nor should they really care!! :P
I am astounded by the quality of most of the artists who post here and I hope my amaturistic attempts at artwork don't bring the board down any. I don't have much to show yet, but just reading the posts here has inspired me to take up the pen and pencil (and use PS for something other then web graphics) again. It's been a few years since I have done anything aside from doodles so be forwarned - I've got rust on top of inexperience (a deadly combination)!
Anyway...I'm not a total newbie to the art world, but when I compare what I have been doing to what some here post regularly I feel like I must be holding my wacom tablet upside-down!
I'm going to post something that I started a few days ago as a pratice run...as you can see it is incomplete, and a bit on the bland side, but I would love to here what you have to say!
Don't be too hard on me...I break easily! If you have a links to tutorials on figure drawing / anatomy , or pages that have Photoshop techniques relating to painting, etc. (no web button tutorials, thanks) then please share! I appreciate any help you are willing to offer.
Thanks!

hi and welcome to the board!
Your image is really cool i like it alot, the proportions seem very good. The only criticisms i could level is that the wolf's right hand ( left in the picture ) looks uncormfortable, try holding ur arms in that positions and u will find it pretty akward. I would redraw the claw coming from above and over, instead of under. Depending on how large your full res image is i would zoom in pretty close and try to pic out some detail on the head and chest, ie briging out individual haires and so on.
Apart from that, fantastic, looking forward to the final image! |

Welcome spirit wolf! That is an excellent pic man, I really like it, looks very menacing and good pose, looks like fighting stance. I agree that the hand on our left kinda looks awkward too, I think maybe if hes holding the staff (is it a staff??) hand down, more solidly, clenching more of a fist, he'll look more dangerous and in a fighting pose more. (If that is what u r going for..) Cant wait to see it when its done! |

Thanks for the feedback!
Incarnation: Yeah...the left hand is a bit off..I'll have to see about fixing it. I'm not sure if I can change the grip without changing the arm angle entirely, but its still worth playing with
el tigre: LOL..I think it would be tough to draw with claws in my way. Maybe I could do some etchings though! I just find fantasy and horror my two favorite themes, with perhaps a bit of sci-fi mixed in. My handle 'Spiritwolf' actually dates back about seven or eight years when I was playing MUDs. Back 'in the day' I had several characters that resembled wolves or had the last name 'Spiritwolf'.
Cos: Strangley enough, I had no idea what kind of scene I was creating when I started to sketch this out. My only thought in creating this was to make something I could play with in PS. I have found that this image has grown on me since I originally penciled it in. Perhaps I will finish it, but I haven't decided on whether I want to put in a staff or some sort of magic staff.
Craig: Thanks for the warm welcome and I hope to see some more of your artwork as well!

Welcome Spiritwolf!
Your pic looks great, If I was to add anything to what's been said I would maybe mention the ponytail, it's hard to tell if it
is resting on him or if it is in the air. To me it looks like it is in the air in which case then I think it would cast some shadow on the chest area. Anyway this is just a minor thing. Looking forward to seeing a lot more of your work.
