boo. proper explanation.

binke- nope. this actually has nothing to do with her.

29a- nope. my phone bill is my problem, not anyone else's.

what i wrote on my site now,

"when the new sun arises, the ...entity known as faustgfx (person, work, graphics, web site, everything that you can see of me digitally) shall no longer exist.

what is the obviously sinister and conspiracy reeking reason behind this?

this morning i woke up to the thought that i hate the internet. i hate the idea of being an active part of the communities i take part in. i hate the people who surround me, except for a few exceptions (thanx lisa). now the angsty bit. i hate my own work. i hate the idea of people looking at it and blindly praising me to godhood. i hate everything about digital art right now.

i decided to kill my website, server contract, e-mail, isp account, everything. except my so called "mother" snapped and did that first as a revenge. but they still need my confirmation for the papers. so if things go as planned, this site shall no longer exist on monday, 22nd of may, 2000.

so i'll just slither away. i need to re-organize my life, the clich of a new beginning soon. this will take time.

i will return when i feel i am up to terms with myself and my work and when i feel that i am technically and artistically (ick) *good*. but until that happens, which may take a long time...

i also wish that every wallpaper and whatnot site that has my work on them would take the pictures down for good. i also want everyone to take their links to my site down from their sites."

Good enough explanation... I hope you'll be back sometime...

A friend of mine snapped just like you a few weeks ago... Do what feels good, life is to short to be bored...

Wish I had the guts to do what Faust has done :}.

Faust was my head-ups for good European CD's that don't get released over here, so now I'm back to reading cdnow.com reviews.. argh!

ooo i remember that feeling.....it happened during class....at that point i HATED everthing around me.....i just got up and left during the lecture and sat outside by myself with my thoughts its like a million things runnin in your mind that you wanna express and its a really fucked up feelin....you need to vent faust either by writing down what your feelin or just go to an isolated place and SCREAM and scream as loud as you can......

im still a stranger to everyone here but i hope you feel better......

Gosh .. this really brings back some memories .. I think every artist has gone through this phase ...sometimes more than once ... I calle IT "EVOLVING" .. you evolve into a different type of artists .. with more in-depth appreciation for everything around you .... but before this happens you must ..erase everything and start over .. in a manner of speaking .. I have done this a couple of times .. although never as harsh as he is doing .. . but, Faust if you are listening .. I hope you know we all understand .. and be well .. "EVolve" ...

This down slump may go way beyond your work, there is though one little bit of inspiration I read whenever I get down with myself, because "I" am an "artist", that inspiration I reach for is a book called "The Art Spirit" by Robert Henri. Some of the most amazing passages you could ever read on being an artist, and what we are, what we do, why we do it, why we don't at times, etc. When I read anything out of that book, I feel like I actually count, when before I didn't. There will be some fog to cut through, it's not easy. Good luck with your dilemma...

Thanks to Freddy for the book suggestion. My personal recommendation would be the movie "Andrei Rublev", which deals with similar themes (what is an artist, who is he working for, what should he think of himself, etc) in a quite thought-provoking way and is a cinematic masterpiece on top of that.

Whenever I'm feeling down on my work I think of this film... And the great thing is that it's available on DVD, a decently good Criterion Collection edition which even contains some interesting Tarkovski interviews, so I can watch it again whenever I want to.

Anyway, best of luck to Faust, he'll be missed...
