Decided to try and work a little more on the samurai scetch from earlier today... (good practise) Tried out some quick coloring and came up with this.. Thought the striking red worked well with the black and white.
Although I really like just plain black and white comic art, I've seen this combination used quite effectively in some comic books (Frank Miller's Sin City for example), making certain parts of the drawings look really eyecatching. I really liked the way it was used in those books at least..
It's something I think I'd like to experiment some more with.. Been a lot of fun doing quick little scetches like this..

not bad.. the face kinda looks like wolverine tho..
and the right arm.. or arm hes holding the sword is odd.. cause its a midget arm..
the elbow/clothes should be (or start to) crease.. off the borders of that image to me.. |

Hehe, was it the sideburns?
Looking at it, it actually does resemble Wolvie a little. But that's cool, he used to be one of my favorite characters (back when I had time to read comics...)
Hey speaking of Wolverine, here a *real* old pic of him I did once (in 94 or something):
Thanks for your comments!
Much appreciated..
I might do some quick tweaks to it some day.. Too little extra time
C.

WOW!!! I really, really like your style. I'm not sure, but I have a feeling that if you darkened the red a bit then it might look better. Try it if you can, cause it might look awesome. Oh yeah, and I have to tell you that I LOVE your work there. The shading and intense lighting really add to the mood.

Looks freaking damn cool Christer! I think you're right on with using the red...it just seems to go really well with the black/white.
It all looks good to me to be honest (and the arm and wolvie thing i can't really see at all.) Do some more, and get your web site going full steam! |
