Hey... Im new to this place, even though Ive been reading for a few days. Wanted to know how to actually make the scetches I draw on paper look real, when i paint the colors in photoshop 5.5? I have a few scetches and some of them, I cant figure out how to make the skin or hair or anything else look real. Which sucks because I like drawing and all but this is pissing me off? Anyways, I always scetch stuff and never really color them because I think they'll end up looking like crap at the end, so I dont color them or make a final at all sorta. But how do all you ppl get the hair looks, and uhh, the good skin tones.. and all that stuff, 'cause it's not workin' for meeeeeee... blah blah blah. I did a drawing of theresa but I dont have a website atm(cant remember the pw),so I cant post that. Was my first digital drawing sorta..Well, I'll go messed around in photoshop now... thx

Uhhh, Yes, I need practice... but still, there's things you need probably before you can actually make the stuff look good on the comp. Like for instance someone giving me the idea on how the hell to make hair realistically in PS. Or Giving me the general idea of what kind of brush to use or make... etc etc etc... Blah, sorry, just pissed atm =/ .. By the way, gotta let you know that I dont have a Wacom tablet which uhhh... makes me use my mouse(crappy).

Skin tones you just need to practice at with the dodge/burn tools...I don't have a clue how people do hair. |

The HAIR TUTORAL has been around here already , you could use the search tool for it.
TO make it shorts you make some random pixels in white background, DEFINE them AS BRUSH.
Make a flat colored area with the hair base color, then use the new brush and make some strokes with darker color.. finally use the smudge tool and smudge along the hairline.

Study things from life, look yourself in the mirror, study skin-tones, shadows, light, materials, shapes and forms, what colours are usually in wich places(skin), look in books, magazines and try to analyse what you see. A big danger is to do things and not
understanding why. There's also good books
to learn from. Just suggestions.
Good luck
