Nice choice of colour pallette.
and overall nice feel to the picture..
although i think if you gave him more height on the forehead.. then it would be better

The image is really good. a couple things you can do to help a few areas, the hairline should move up the skull some. And maybe a touch more volume on the chin. I am not at work right now or I would make an overlay to explain this. But the head is normally divided into thirds across down the facial plane. The first third starts at hair line and ends at the brow ridge. The second third beginsat the brow ridge and ends under the base of the nose. The third begins at the base of the nose and ends at the bottom of the chin. This assures you prpoer dimensions on the lateral spacial breakup of the facial features.
The other place that could use a bit of work is the neck area. The sterno mastoidius muscle looks sorta tube like right now. Or is that a tube? If not, the it needs to be softened back into the rest of the neck. Again, I wish I could give an overlay. I have to teach tomorrow or I would do it then. Maybe Sunday...
I really like the way you used the background to circle around the head. And the colors are nice... |

If someone's interested, here's my step for this image. I got a pencil drawing from soda, did this color block thingy on top of it, which I then sent back to soda for finishing:
It's very sloppy, I made it too fast (with soda relentlessly whipping me to have it done )... Freddy, that awful tube on the neck is my fault entirely as you can see - I just, uhh, forgot it there

nice coloring work there
His left eye however (right in the picture) looks too small and too low ( I guess somone pointed that out already).
The stuff he is wearing could use a bit more detail too.. anyway good work guys.. |

It's Armand Asante!
I really like the use of colors, nice pic overall. But I think the worn and deep look you seem to be going for is lacking something.
Just two things: His hair needs some work, and the far side of his face is a little flat, I'd like to see more protrusions, like a heavy brow and a suggestion of a cheek bone.
The rough looks really good, but I've always been partial to roughs.

Here is my two cents. I lost the version without the lines. Wish I had it. This was about a 15-20 minute redraw over the face. Some proportion problems needed to be worked out...
The lines indicate parallels that are slightly drifting in the face. I wish I had that other version. Oh well, hope this helps a bit...if you have any questions about it, please post |

frost, if you have any questions about it, please post...Wow, this image lost all it's contrast when I jpegged it. The hair had all these great values in it, now its a hair helmet. I am going to try and lighten it then repost it...yikes, friggin hair helmet...grumble grumble |

Nice! Hey it does look like Asante!
I'd say he needs more room for the forehead-or work the hair a bit so that it looks like covering the forehead. Also the right end of the face looks really smudged, maybe you should define that a bit better...
Keep it up! |

Questions about what? (?)
Jpg doesn't darken, recontrast, restaturate or hue images. If you're using a Mac, Spooge has that very same problem...
