I am currently suffering on the rare sickness of creativity overflow where I just can't get my hands off my brand new ----- board. (I'll better not say THE WORD)
So here is one attempt to use the airbrush from the start:
Anyone got any tips for the use of the airbrush tools in pictures like this / this picture?
... and then there is this comic one that I'd like to have some tips for improvement on ... (like do you usually use the pen tool for the outline and stroke it or the paintbrush.. How do YOU do the coloring.. what direction of light do you usually use)
http://www.sijun.com/dhabih/ubb/Forum2/HTML/002034.html
And then there is one that's somewhat different - no 'eye candy' stuff:
"time to think?"
If you have comments/ tips / flames on any one of those let me know plz.

I like the painterly style of the two paintings. I think that if you had one part of the image that really stood out as the point of focus it would really make them both better.
I know you said that they were sketches so you might not have put as much time into the designing part of the projects but I am a fanatic on design and planning. I don't put my pen tool to anything until it has been thumbnailed out and then brainstormed and them value studied out.
YOur airbrushing is fine if thats the painterly style your going for. I think that on your first painting of the arm needs to have a definite light source. It just seems to have two different light sources.
And on the other one you should play around with where you want the type. You have all this other crazy stuff happening in the background but your main headline is stuck right in the middle and is all the same size. Play around and have fun. I think you already are having fun I didn't mean that you weren't but just try to break all the rules if your going to break any at all.
I hope you get something out of this. |

sounds interresting.
I guess the first pic (the arm) does not have a point of focus, but its just a study.. so I think thats ok.
The second (abstract) Image has its point of focus not on the image but in your mind, at least that was the idea.
thx anyway.
P.S. I'd really like to see one of your projects to understand what you mean.

I'll send you some of my projects as soon as I get online with my work computer.
I don't have a scanner or anyway to put work up yet but I will soon.
Sorry my suggestions didn't help much. Its hard to know what your intentions and thoughts are on the piece without talking to you.

Hmm well, it COULD be my arm
Btw.. I guess your arm doesn't look like that unless you are a professional body builder.

Does nobody else have some critique?
I think I should rip off a pic from dhab to get some replies.
no really.. i think it sucks that you only get replies when you are already ARE good.

Well said, Nex. The ones who get the most feedback by far are the ones who don't need it. |
