The 3dpalete contest really got me going, so much so that I'm still fixated on seeing my pic up on the web. There's a lower-brain level need to have that happen, like an addiction. So despite the trubble frag.com & 3dpalette be having, I'll just post my pic... er... the parts I like (you can see the rest later, cuz it's rushed and uglee). Maybe then I'll finally be able to go on with another pic.
I didn't start out with an overall sketch (unlike the ones in the +36+ gallery :), I just started with a face, actually, a cartoony face from last year.
I then tried to make here more real, by sketching a face full size on 8 1/2 x 11.
Then I colored it with all the photoshop skills I've picked up here on sijun and on the web. Something wasn't right though. The proportions were all wrong.
So I used photoshop to shrink bits of her face. haha... almost cheating, but she became cuter with a smaller chin and nose, and a wider head, and bigger hair! I color dodged till happy.
Then I added the radiation burns to her right side, and the funky tatoo was made just for fun but stuck around after I flattened the image and saved by mistake!!! Grr...
In summation, I like layers!! Separate shadow and light layers, darken, color dodge, transparency 67%... yip yip yip!
Inspirations for this face were Dhabih's "Eclipse" and "Jack" and Shane Caudle's "Queen Amadala" (he is nuts!!!) |

Nice pencil sketch (the more realistic one). Well it's all good but I like the pencil sketch.
One thing thou: She's looks too nice and trusting to be a character in a post-apocalyptic setting. Maybe more of a side-kick. To a hero. Actually she looks a bit like a ferret, someone that hides and
scavenges. These comments apply only in the final image. The rest are tottaly different in character. No offence, just anaylzing the character side of a character sketch.
