Just wonderin, how are your submissions coming along guys? .. any chance of some previews?

Also, when is the deadline, Immi?

For what it's worth, my entry is coming along slowly but it will be done. I think the deadline is May 1st so it's only a week away.
I think immi wanted us all to keep our ideas fairly secret until after the deadline. When that time comes I say we devote a thread entirely to our characters.

just started 10 min. ago, hehe. but since this actually has a deadline, it's pretty high in my prioraties for art... i got the concept down.

just one question though, can we only have one character on the one pic? for example, can i do a pic in which the main character is not really the center of focus (i was thinking of having some guy just standing there, but the main character sorta hanging off the wall above him, about to kill him.) sorry about not keeping this too secretive, but i really wanted to use this idea, and if it won't really work in this contest, then i need to know, since i got a week left. thanks

Dakkan, I asked immi the same question and he told me that you can have more than one character in the piece but to try and keep him/her as the main focus.
I dunno, maybe you might want to email him and ask for sure.

Whew...I'm glad to see the contest is still in some of your minds. I was kind of getting worried, I've recieved about 10 entries so far, and none in awhile. I would imagine I'll get a whole bunch in in the last couple of days.

Of the 10, I've recieved 1 that I really, really like (although it probably won't appeal to everyone, its more the style and mood of the picture rather than the technical drawing ability that I like), 3 that are pretty good, and the rest that are so so (imo.)

Dakkan, as far as your character goes, yeah I guess thats fine to have him more in the background. If thats going to make him more interesting then why not? Just make sures it done well I guess.

immi - That's why I'm not entering it. I suck at drawing guns. I was going to try for the pit-fighter type, but oh well. If I enter I'm not going to post the pic that I enter. hehe

Hey Immi, will 3d palette be having more contests in future? I only just found out about the contest a day or two ago through reading this thread and I can't get an image done before May 1st.

How long will it be before there is another comp? Couple of months?

BTW: Everyone's entries look pretty cool!Can't wait to see the results!

Holy shit! This contest is so friggin cool. Man, you guys are going to be blown away by some of the entries. I pity dhab and craig who have to do the judging...its gonna be damn hard to find a winner.

Hopefully, I'll have all the entries up around May 4 in a gallery format. We'll also put up a voting thing, so you can vote for your favourite (just for fun though...winners are determined by judges)

Then, sometime soon after we'll announce the winners.
