I really need help on this. How do you make transparent GIF's in Photoshop? I've tried many times but just can't get the colors transparent. How do I do it? And how do I choose what color I want transparent? Thanks. |

Hi Tunusch, Howya doin geezer. I know how to do this, ok first select the area you want transparent with the quickmask, then Transport transparent gif thru the help section, then go thru the bollox and save it, theennnnn you have to re-export as a gif again,and on the bit it says Transparency from, change it from selected colours to the wizard selection, resave it and bobs ya fookin uncle! ;D, hope this helps man. |

Easy..
File--> Export--> Gif
open the GIF you just saved and export it as a GIF again, it'll bring up a thumb of the pic and a tool to select the colors you want to be transparent. Then save, that's it..!

Has anyone experienced problems with animated gifs not redrawing properly (so frames are drawn on top of each other without redraw)????
Normally I do the Export route as mentioned.
I'll try that T@tsu, thanks

I usually use the gifconv program...really easy to use and also freeware. I think you can do most stuff there. Just save as tga in pshop and do the rest in gifconv.

but, I've also tried to make transparent gifs in phshop by having a black & white alpha layer, which indicates the trsanparent color/s ....somehow that actually worked.

Thanks everyone for your help. T@tsu's GIF Animator solution worked great. I've been using Microsoft GIF Animator for years and I never once thought to use it for anything other than animations. Thanks for the help everyone (especially T@tsu). |

Your welcome bud.
On the issue of retraced layers in an interlaced gif:
Try using the proggie I mentioned. Within it there is a simple way to take the layers and have the background get restored OR a matte effect to stop the image from wigging out and having those terrible pixels of nastiness waste your gif-ly (<--made up word of the day--) goodness. Check the flags under the animation properties.

Kurisu,
I haven't done this in ages, but I am positive there is an option where its like.. "replace last frame as.." or something and i think the choice is background or something. if you have it as none you will see a trail effect and be on drugs.
