I've been on this forum for a little while now and whilst most threads are about Photoshop paintings not once have I seen anything about vector graphics. When I first started doing Digital Art I used Corel Draw 7. Great program, used to make those clip-art images we see bundled in the 100's of 1000's.

Has anybody on this forum ever done any work with Corel?

Abusive messages or anything intelligible will be accepted.

Here's one of my Corel images...

hmmm.... can't seem to be able to post images... (there appears to be slight retardedness in my cranium)

HOW THE HELL DO YOU UPLOAD STUFF!?

That sounds similar to saying "Pokmon is a great show, used to lobotomize millions of children worldwide."

Anyway... There has been some small talk about vector programs, at least a thread about Illustrator some time ago (I prefer Freehand ). The problem with Corel, at least for me, is the nasty interface. But that of course depends greatly of what you're used to, Corel seems more geared towards business users anyway.

To put it bluntly, forget Corel Draw. If you want to do vector graphics there are other apps which have a hell of a better interface, an easierm learning curve, can do more and do it more efficiently. Just to list them in order of my favourite vector drawing apps: Deneba's Canvas 6, Macromedia's Freehand and Adobe Illustrator.

*Bow before Jigglypuff.......*

Ugh. I have to agree with the boys above. Corel packages are mainly geared to PC users. Adobe started out in the Mac World (and while still retaining Mac, crossed over and pimp-slapped Corel and took the PC market as well.)
The only instance where anyone has used Corel (in my experience) to it's fullest is in the Industrial Design sector. These boys use it for quick rendering of shit. Crazy.
But Freehand and Illustrator still beat ass in the mainstream art world.

Pika Pika, PIKACHU!

*Damn those labotamies*

eeerr... right

Just a moronic question, do you need to have your images uploaded already on a webpage before they can be posted on this forum?

'Coz that info on UBB code disn't mean shit to me. Someone out there! Give this simple, simple mind some enlightenment!

Or am I just missing a few vital organs, or something like that?

I started with corel draw 4 or maybe 5. Anyways, that was along time ago. I don't use it anymore. Occassionaly if I need to whip up a chart or map real fast I will use a vector program, but hese days if I need to use one I use Micrographix windows draw. Corel just eats up so much system for so little oomph. As to posting with UBB, well, yeah it does need to be on a web server somewhere. The UBB is just like a HREF, it's just a pointer. You can't actually upload anything to the forum.
