Howdy all! Here's My latest, And I'm really looking for alot of comments on how to improve it! I spent alot of time on it, and still can't get some things perfect.
Like is there a better way to like the edges so they don't come out all choppy? And can anyone give me some tips on how to make plastics (Like her choker).
Please give input!!

It looks great! The cyan is a bit over-saturated, but it looks real nice. The hairline should be a smoother and linear, sort of blending into the skin, the lips need refining as in adding more detail/lines/cracks so do eyebrows hairs and the eyelashes. The ears also seem to be slightly overlit, the iris a little small (left one is bigger and little to the left). Sorry if I nuked you with these things, but I really like the pic and they sort of flowed out of me. Skin texture would be nice as an added bonus.
Keep at it, I love it.
cheers.

okei this will be my first actual "tip" lol
1) Where the hair starts to grow, use small brush and make the tips a lil smaller at the end instead of fat ends.
2) lips makeup edges.. make them a bit less blurry :)
Although eyes makeup should get more blur on the edges
that would be sweetley :)

About the best tip's i can give you are:
1.- With eyebrows, after you do all your nice fine strokes, grab the airbrush and make the brush size about the same width as the 'brows. Run a stroke at about 50% opacity over the brow. It softens them just nicely while still keeping the crispness of the fine hairs.
2.- Hairline needs to taper to points near the skin. Remember that hair is individual strands, though they clump together, they all start as single strands. Take your time with this as it will set off the entire image.

Getting the proper look for things like plastic and glass is tough. It's all about tonal and reflective qualities. You have to really know the properties of a material to nail it. I am certainly not the person to ask, I've never nailed it. There used to be a real nice tute at either Andy's Art Attack or, um ... crap I just drew a blank. It was a web site by a swedish guy who did web graphics - yeah I know real helpful - um his name was something like Anders Kvicken. Crap. Well anyway, plastic is hard.

heh, no one answered your question about tackling blurriness or the 'choppy' edges.
The very best way to control edges for me is selections. make a selection of say...the lips and then paint the selection, this way u get a nice, clean sharp edge...u can tweak it and soften it as much as you like later...way easier then going from blurry to sharp...see my point?
the edges arent all that choppy...maybe a lil. if u had masked off your areas before u painted them then that wouldnt have been a prob i dont think, however, now you can either:
-erase the edge with a semi diffuesd and small brush, set the opcity of the brush down a l;il so u get a 'lil' bit of a feather..,.and erase away that nasty edge make sure you're background color is that blue u have there...if u have the head onna diff layer, that makes yoiur job easier, no need to worry about your background color now..
hope that helps, if u need anymore help feel free to contact me...

Wow, thanks for the feedback guys. You never notice how the "little stuff" makes the big changes.
Frost:
Over saturation may be due to working in RGB then transfering to .JPG. Hairlie: Done-Darker ears : Done-Refine Lips : Done-redo eyelashes :Done-move eyes :Done (One's not bigger, Copy pasted one eye and moved it over, hehe) Thanks for the awsome input

About the makeup bluring, Whatcha mean? Although i did fade it a bit around the eyes..

Good advice.. I didn't use masks, I should have. Instead I used an outline *DOH* so now i have to erase the evil bugger.
So here without Adu, is the new image
Thanks again for the insite guys, Keep the ideas rollin if you get them!~!

based on the angles, the hairline and where the eyes are looking it looks likeshe's tilting here head forward slightly (and it looks familiar. Any reference?)
given the head tilt I think the nose needs more, er... something to make it look like its sticking out of the head at the appropriate angle anyway. (ran into the bottom of my terminology barrel then) |

*sigh* since my description sucked so much I tried to draw what I meant.
I know this is a horribly presumtuous thing to do, particularly by the likes of me. Hopefully it works though, even though its far from perfect and I only spent about 20mins-half an hour on it.
-Edit: I did a little more to it. not a lot, but I was testing my own theories on what I was doing wrong-

AHH!!
I never even noticed that. I'll down size her left nostril and angle the top of the right, that should do it.
Thanks muz.
