lately there have been commercials that make me want to rip my hair out and punch a wall (and im usually a nice guy ), and theres some that are really really funny or cool that ive liked....anyway, this thread is for commercials you hate and love. here are a list of some of the recent ones ive liked and absolutely dispised...
Hated Commercials
---------------------------
- that winterfresh gum commercial "winterfresh mouth tastes much much cooler, icy cool breath, blah blah blah"
- this newest taco bell commercial with the girl breaking up with this guy eating tacos
- any 1-800-CALL-ATT commercial
-
Funny/Awesome Commercials
---------------------------
- the Eat and Earl commercial. that was so fucking funny, i was laughing for hours.
- the sports commercial with the athlete jogging and the little guy holding a boombox playing "eye of the tiger" who gets thrown into a wall
- this commercial for a fastfood resturaunt, its all animated, it has some chick in a suped up car in a futuristic city trying to eat a really big cheeseburger thats too big for her mouth, so she fires up the car and goes ultra fast, and her mouth stretches open and she puts it in....the animation is awesome
well anyway, i cant think of anymore right now, my mind went blank, but when i think of alot more, i'll post em.

At least Taco Bell got rid of that stupid dog.
Anything else is a step up from their old commercials.
The only commercials I hate worse are those Pepsi commercials with that little bitch girl who I hope dies (and I'm usually a nice guy too).
And why in the heck did they start putting commmercials before movies? I want to kill someone for that. Whos with me people?!!!
Letsgo!!!Attack!!!
AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

-Worst-
All taco bell commercials...
-Best-
Ok, you didn't say they had to be funny, so some aren't funny, they are just good, or have good music with them.
Funny one-I think it was a nikey commecial..not sure.
Anyway this is the one where the two guys are jogging in the forest or field or whatnot, and one of them gets bit in the angle by a snake...and the friend got on his knees and was going to suck out the poison, and it looked like (from the back camera angle) like he was doing some other type of sucking..catch my drift LOL...and then a sweet looking honey (jogger) ran by and looked at them funny...LOL
Next two, aren't funny, but have good music...the "Wanna be like Mike" commecial...cause good tune and showed some awesome slow motion scenes with MJ. Kindof old.
And the other one, don't flame me , but the beef commecial with the orchastra in the background...I liked the music a lot. I know it isn't their slogan music...but I can't think of who wrote it.
That is all I can think of right now.

Nike commercial with guys playing with football (soccer for Americans) at airport.
Directed by John Woo. I liked it.

Chris..I agree with you on the Beef commercials. That music is by the (now dead) composer Aaron Copland. He happens to be one of my all time favorite classical composers and a American to boot. That song is entitled "Hoedown" He's also very well known for his other song, "Fanfare for the Common Man" Many commercials for various branches of the military use it regularly as background music.
For me..one of the funniest commercials where I actually laughed out loud..was for
Budget.com. They had their small team of marketing specialists coming up with slogans and one was, "Rent a Ranger for a day, BE a Ranger for a day." So they had this guy out in the woods dressed as a Ranger talking all sweet to this little bear cub when it vomits in his face. *I'm laughing as I type this!*
Worst commercial...it's more of a local Ohio thing..but "Buddy's Carpets" I know Lotor's seen and heard them. This guy's voice brings a whole new meaning to the word annoying.

wow..you guys know a lot. I definitly appreciate you telling me that Salty. I am also glad I am not the only one who knows what I am talking about lol.
Thought of another good commecial.
This is the one the flucks the godzilla movie craze. It starts out with the board meeting with around 6-7 executives around the table, and they make up a slug slogan for a new trend. So they pop out slogan food ideas, posters, music (rap video heh), and then the boss says "great, what about the movie", and one of the executives say "Well we don't have a script yet, but we could probably shoot one out by friday" LOL...loved that line...marks so many movies I have seen... |

Hehe...glad to be of help. I also love the one you're talking about. With the slugs...the "Slug Taco" put salt on it and it shrivels..lol. That was for a Sprite commercial. Funny as heck. (And heck can be pretty funny this time of year) |

Hey Lotor..I thought you loved the commercials..especially for the Cabriolet,...with the 4 Oasis wannabe kids in the car driving through the hillsides at night whilst the Cat Stevens knockoff singer in the back yodels out some nonsensical drivel. Very Marucco.

Oh yeah, almost forgot:
the oupost.com commercials. They kick so much ass! Tattooing children's foreheads and shooting a gerbil(or was it a hamster) out of a cannon. Funnee. Should be able to find that one at adcritic... |

Salty you better bring a gun or weapon of some sort to the theatre when we see "the Way of the Gun" because if we see that commercial at the beginning of that movie and you say ONE thing i'm gonna make you very very dead.
Oh yeah and I also hate that commercial with that woman dancing with her cat.
Hey I liked that one Wendys commercial where it was like an old overdubbed mythical movie like Hercules. "By Zeus what man could make such a feast?"

The sad thing is is that someone got paid to think those stupid commericals up. The fact that someone actually wrote those down somewhere just gets me... if it was on a McDonald's napkin or a piece of toilet paper with lipstick someone wrote it down.
I wonder if those who make stupid ones get more money than those who make good ones?
Something to try. When you have the remote and you're watching TV with some friends channel surf durning the shows and stop on commericals.

current favorite: wher ethe guy is stretching in the park, 2 guys [i think either nike or adidas] come up with a pistol and those slots you put your feet against for track and etc[obviously dont know name] and 1 of the two guys fires the pistol and everyone in the park screams and so forth. Im horrible with descriptions.
...i should really reread some of my posts before I post them.....

i like those ketchup commercials, those Heinz ones, you know? it's not funny, it's not awesome, it's just there and says how lonely you could be if you were a ketchup in the refrigerator sitting next to a couple hamburgers.
another good one... local commercials i see at my friends house are so pathetic it's almost funny.

The new Heineken commercial. "Premature pour." That makes me laugh my ass off every time. Granted, I'm mighty simple. But that's just great. Oooh! Another witty one is that Geico Direct commercial (insurance) with the duck that goes, "Smaller bills."
Who are the advertising wizards that came up with that one????
The bad ones? Everything Jenny Craig. Especially that capitalize-on-idiocy, hey-let's-exploit-a-shameless-freak Monica Lewinski one. What were they thinking?

Slim Jim beef jerky commercials!
Loves------
All Jack in the Box commercials! Heh!
I love that milk one....with the old guys in a cafe, spiting paper gabs at these buff italian guys.....as they walk over the old guys boink em in the head! Tis hilarious!
I like that Andy character for pizza hut...only see it on US channels though.
Errr? Yeh taht do it yourself commercial....where one gut jumps onto a cactus, the other guy rolls down a hill on a shop cart, and one other fat bloke gets toosed over a hill face first...forgot what it's advertising though.

He he, I don't know if you get adverts for these sweets called Rolo's where you are but they have a pretty funny commercial.
It's the one where this kid is teasing a baby elephant by offering him Rolos but keeps the sweets just out of the baby elephant's range.
Anyway, the scene cuts to 20 years later and the kid(now a man) is standing on a street kerb watching a carnival procession. When he's looking the other way a huge trunk taps him on the shoulder... he turns round... WHACK!!! |

Hmmmm....well these won't mean a damn thing to all you American heroes, but for those of us in the UK:
The Tango adverts are damn superb - The first blackcurrant one with fat wrestling business man & the harrier jump jets & Sebastien in France....
& The Heinz Salad cream where a tramp goes into a store, buys a bottle in a brown bag, & goes outside. Camera cuts to a bin full of trash....'Any food tastes supreme with Heinz Salad Cream'. Mmmmm
& Armadillos : Crunchy on the outside, soft in the middle!
Hmmm....I can't think of any other great ones right now.
The bastards who do the Sounds Direct ads should be shot. |

Bummer we don't seem to get your commercials around here in winter-land.
Altho Psi Burn I remember that one with the guy tackling a shopping cart I thought it was shit funny ! Wasn't that a Saturn commercial ?
I like the Clarica adds.. my fav is this one taking place on both sides of a busy road. A woman is sitting on a bench waiting. She looks up to see a man on the other side weaving frantically, trying to shout something over the noise. The woman obviously thinks he's a nutball and is apparently glad he can't cross the road without being hit.
Then on the man's side comes up an artist girl carrying a large scrapbook (the man is still weaving and making signs).
The woman comfortably sits back on her bench to read or something while the artist girl looks up and quickly starts to draw something on her pad and promply turns it around for the woman to see it. It has a huge black arrow pointing up. The woman looks up and trows herself away from the bench who is instantly pulverised by a falling piano
Eek that's almost a synopsis here
I also like the Maxima commercial with 'Clubbed 2 death' Matrix's soundtrack.
As for bad commercials, I think people writting them achieved their goal. The point is to make people remember the product. Sure you hate the commercial but you REMEMBER IT.. Bingo !
anyway.. More infoclut soon ! *evil grin*
ege who can't wait for the Lions D'or (Cannes competition for 'short commercial movies') |

most of you guys won't get these but...
Irn Bru commercials are the funniest shit out. Picture this....
Scene opens, B&W film of a typical 50's family sitting around a piano singing, mother, father, son and daughter.
"Everybody in the world loves Irn Bru"
"I do" (Daughter)
"I do" (Father)
"We do"(Son)
"Me Too"(Mother)
Then the mother sings a harmony along the lines of...
"Even though I used to be a mannnnn!"
The kids look at there mother confused, then at their father who looks very embarrassed.
Commercial ends with the mother shaving her face whilst cheerily whistling the tune.
I haven't done this ad justice but the surprise I got when I first saw it, I just cracked up.

"I love IRN BRU, and so do my bitches..." |
