Well... at least we got Painter 6 in time, which has photoshop layers and is quite a lot more user friendly than the previous versions....
Have you ever tried working woth Corel software? Shivers... blech, ptahh, stomach cramping up, gotta spew!
Sad to see Painter end this way.

I'm with Ko and Saffron, Corel software sucks big time. I too was hoping the adobe would pick up Painter... it would have fit into thier software line nicely..... It's too bad really....

That sucks that Corel bought Painter, but Adobe bought Cararra.. which is kinda cool. However, I would've prefered that they picked up Painter .. god damn Corel.
For christ-sakes, they have a Linux distribution, an office-suite, a whole line of retarded graphic-apps already, why did they have to go and take our beloved Painter and conform it to their utter shittiness?

Well, I'm upset and worried too, but I'm hoping for the best.
When MetaTools took over the Fractal Design programs, they brought some nice innovations to the products, namely better interfaces. Hopefully Corel will be able to add some fresh spins on the products as well.
I'm sorry to see that whole products line split up though - MetaCreations was going in some original directions with its interfaces and features. It's a shame. I guess Kai Krause has better things to do. . .

Nnnnnnoooo! I was really hoping for Adobe to buy Painter. Who uses Corel software anyway, except business people who want graphics apps that work like MS Office and have lots of bundled clipart... Well, Painter 6 is good and will keep working - after all DeluxePaint 2e is still usable (for its purpose) and it's, what, 10 years old

All my hopes of a more useable GUI in Painter are now probably all shot to hell.. I figured no one could do a worse job on the GUI than MetaCreations... Wasn't thinking about Corel.. oh God.. The HORROR, the horror..
