Well im not that good at the whole digi art thing but I got into just by reading things and wanting do all the mad gameart you see in magazines.
Perfect your skillz by Practice Practice and more Practice and dont be afraid to try different methods/styles of doing something.

welcome d00d

wel, if i was to do it the 'right way' all over again i'd:
-read lots of tutorials
-produce an image everyday
-never use a filter unless you are prepared to do what it does by yourself, and ony use it to save time, not make up for lack of skill
-hang out here and read everything that gets posted
-start collecting all your fav art around the web and analyse the fuck outta it...ask lots of questions.
goto: http://www.3dpalette.com http://www.goodbrush.com http://www.gameart.com
and read every tutorial u can get your hands on.

that should keep ya busy

lates...

As far as my 2D pieces go I just started back up a half week ago. With the 3D stuff I've been doing it for a year and a few months now and finally achieved the look i want. WHEW!

To perfect my skills I jump at the times when i am inspired and create as much as possible until i get burnt out. Helps alot, cuz the next day I may just feel like twiddling my thumbs :/
