Adobe WHAT???????? After Effects? Illustrator??? Page Maker????

My dear little friend, you should be quite specific about what you're posting. Otherwise people won't think of you as the aspiring artist you obviously are, no they will think you're a fourteen year old ADD-patient, sitting at home, being bored, while mommy is out, stocking up on Prozac!

AAARGH! Will it never stop! WTF happened to this forum. It's like, all of a sudden somebody rerouted a sewer-line to pour tons of lamers over this forum ... aaargh!

You know we really shouldnt yell and gag everytime a newbie comes on here. Its the same with every forum people complain and whine when newbies come. We were all newbies once, so why not try to help them out instead of yelling at them eh?

Added: Rile$ i'm guessing you're talking about Photoshop no? www.3dpalette.com is a good place to start it has some pretty good tutorials there.

Riles,
Just about everyone in here i am assuming has a thing called a life.
You may not but that ok.
No one will just sit down with you and say ... here is what you need to do and move the tablet/mouse around for you and show you step by step how to do everything... you should take classes, read a book, or just learn from trial and error.
No one in here had someone teach them the art of digital art step by step like you are expecting.
You should go find some tutorials.

PS: I should have said this before but me and Rile$ are brothers... we are sitting about 14 feet away from each other charing the same cable modem. We like to bust on each other

Dear Monkey!

Since you're quite new here yourself, I might seem harsh to you. Maybe I am, but so many other people that have joined the forum recently, did it differently (I did this myself too): I lurk for a while and check the forum out. Then I know what comes up, who's a bastard (like Loki), just all the little details. Does this make sense?

It's just that people seem to post for the sake of posting. "Playing around with adobe for a day" is quite generic - don't you agree?

On the other hand I'm probably just in a bad mood today and definetely was too harsh ...

No I agree with you Loki I am still pretty new here myself but before I go making a post that asks a question I always always always search the forum to see if my question was already answered.
If Rile$ would have searched for Photoshop tips he would have had enough reading for a good afternoon or two.
Not only should this Forum have a Wacom FAQ but it should have a Newbie FAQ.
If your a newbie (myself included) THINK and SEARCH before you post.

P.S. Ditto on what Kos.mandis said.

Rest assured Loki, I feel the very same way, even though I'm not an oldie here either.

You have people posting their 2 minutes sketches every 3 minutes, and saying how fun photoshop+wacom rules (or 'R00LZ' for some) every 4th minute, and I am as annoyed as you are of it all. Then again, I'm an old elite-esque SOB.

I have nothing against newbies, in fact I love teaching. But give us newbies that have a slight amount of common sense and respect for the members of this board.

I suck.

It really is 'proper' forum etiquette to lurk for a while and kind of let the general forum attitude soak in and learn all you can, then start posting. It's also pretty much common sense. But I don't approve of yelling at these people unless they become a true annoyance and post 99999 different topics in one day asking questions that can be easily found by using the handy-dandy search feature. I totally 100% agree that there should be another FAQ with all the questions we see over and over.. or maybe just a permanent thread that can act as a FAQ.

I realize I probably shouldn't even be talking, I'm rather new myself I guess. But I was bored..

/end ramble

one little yelled "WHAT?" isn't too harsh, in my humble, caffeine-powered opinion. But, point taken. As I said - I'm in one of those moods today - hence my handle "loki" - I didn't pick that one for nothing it just takes a while to get out. Seems like I'll be taking over for Mongoose (commentwise)

I didn't particularly think YOUR reply was too harsh Loki, but I've seen some that are recently and since we were on the topic here I said something here.. or something..

I'm kinda new myself, but I've noticed over half the posts that go in this forum should be in the "Random Musings" forum.

I can't say much though... I know I'm an offender as well, but that's because I forget about the other forum.

Instead of creating a new Thread, I thought I'd post this here.

I think it's always a good thing to exercise respect towards one another.

This is a community - granted people come and go and sometimes it's difficult to keep track of all the new Threads... but we should try and support each other in any case. Even those who upset us.

A good point has been brought up over and over again:

FAQ's.

Why don't we identify *exactly* what topics should be covered in 1 or more FAQ's? If we can come up with a list (a goal), then we can divvy up who wants to help organize the information (how to get there)- for the betterment of all...

(or does this already exist?)

I think once we have these FAQ's, maybe Dhabih can add something to make their availability easy and known - and then I think getting upset with those who don't read it is more understandable.

In the defense of members in general, but especially newbies - the way to *find* information can be very difficult. This UBB forum is HUGE and does not (to my knowledge) have a very easy way to access information.
Some things to search for are easy - like 'tablets' for example. But, more often then not, the information is scattered all over the place amidst useful facts and more 'random musings' - In addition, there are some things just too difficult to find through a search - not to mention that the search results (imho) don't point out the information very clearly and easily for quick access (unless you got that search word *just* right).

Let's start the list now! (whether it concerns digital art, painting, 3D, webstuff or whatever...):

Click HERE for a recent FAQ Thread.

With all the flames flying left and right, and accusations of reading the FAQ before you post, perhaps it would be a good idea to get of our asses/take time out of our busy schedules and actually construct a FAQ. A proper one.. We could ask Dhabih to engineer something that posts the FAQ to every new registered forum member.
Just a thought...

Danny
