[color adjust] I assume it might be a printing issue. While on the subject, how do you calibrate for printing -- any rules or tips on that? Pantone?

Hmm, don't mean to sound like a cold jackass by already jumping into technical stuff... the pic is awesome!

Very sweet! =D I love the posing of the characters; Very natural! The guy on the bottom is just about to get his jugular slashed in several very tiny pieces. Great visual imagery!

That pic kicks arse man!! It really reminds me of Frazzeta. I first saw your
work at 3d palette when that sad case Immi
posted it there, and I checked out your webpage and really thought your work was excellent...Can't wait to see more.

...Thanks alot guys! This is really inspiring! As for the question regarding the colors, it`s mostly a printing issue, I wanted an inbetween tone, but the editor of the magazine wanted it to light up more on the shelves.
Also, some edges where left unsharp to give it a more dynamic look. I`ll see if it was a good or bad idea when I see it printed.
Well, as far as I know, nobodys exactly fighing over my stuff. I doubt many publishers even know about me outside Norway:-(

Hi!
I just finished a new cover for the norwegian edition of Conan the Barbarian comic.
I was more or less inderectly whipped by Joachim to show it here for comments/critsism/slaughtering. I made a small progression report/mini tutorial for this on my site. There`s also a higher resolution image there.

Amazing! Makes me think of Boris Vallejo, very keen fantasy artist. I got 150 or so of his paintings on my HD here Watch them over and over.

I love the scenery and subject(s). Tho some edges are left un-sharpened, I don't know if it's on purpose or not Still, this is of much much higher caliber than the last few images posted by some of the would-be digital artists on this board (no names hehe) and I'll be looking forward for your new posts!

Veb, I don't think anyone can slaughter that piece. Awesome work.

What's your original pixel resolution? PC or a Mac?

Dude, how many publishers are fighting eachother in front of your door to put that on their publications? I'd guess it must be at least a dozen of them.

In one word : AMAZING. This puts the whole word "art" to shame. Brilliant technique and composition.

Very very good, thanks for the tutorial as well! Quite Vallejo-styled as everyone already said, but I like your colors better, dear old Boris gets.. ahem.. sort of kitschy sometimes.
You say your last step was brightening in Photoshop - are you sure that was necessary? I quite like the muted colors in the rough color sketch. Not that I wouldn't like the final too of course...

POWERFUL! Your very, very talented.
Hey, but why just a little knife? I just like Conan with broadswords better than with a puny knifes, but, hey its a really, really good pic. The tutorial gave some nice tips too.

Vebjorn: "not knowing you outside Norway"

You definitely have the talent to get someplace in my oppinion. Send your portfolio and website url to some game companies for instance, participate more, make yourself a bit more visible, if that is what you really want.

All the best.

I already have work in a game company, Funcom as a graphic artist on anarchy online www.anarchy-online.com
But I would like is to get more 2d fantasy paintings printed abroad;-)But it requires alot of work. But as the publishers slowly are allowing email submissions it will easier.

why not get in touch with Blizzard or such? They're constantly doing such material -- possibly contractual -- Funcom is grand. You could do some great stuff for them. I'm sure there are a few good companies out there you could add to your resume.. =)

cheers Veb,
frost.
