Hey there guys, Ive just recently gotten into digital art, along the lines of painting and comic book coloring (im an illustration major, but as versatile as possible). The mouse aint cuttin it.. as I see it I have pretty much 3 choices for a tablet..
1) Artz II 6x8 (of ebay)- $80
2) Wacom Graphire 4x5- $100
2) Wacom Intous 6x8- $330
.. I was thinking of getting the Artz II because I havnt heard anything bad about it and its a good price, I am on a bit of a budget but I wouldnt mind springing for the Intuos if its *really* worth it. The Graphire seems a little small to me, though ive never used a tablet so i cant really say. Anyway from your guys experience I was wondering if you had any recommendations
Thanks!

Right forum, wrong question...I have a 6x8 intuos and I love it, In my opinion it's worth the $260 price from Buy.com. I don't know much about Graphire or artz II, but you could search the forum for the previous 1,000,000,000 post on this topic.
Good Luck in finding your tablet |

Uh oh dude...you're in trouble
first rule about wacoms...don't talk about wacoms
2nd rule about wacoms...don't talk about wacoms
Ok, heres an answer I gave previously on the 3dp message boards:
From what people say, it seem like Wacom is the only way to go. Which line you go for depends on a couple of things. The graphire is small at 4x5 inches, and ideal for beginning artists. Other than the size, the other major difference between it and the intuos line, is pressure sensitivity. The graphire has 512 levels of pressure, while the intuos has 1024 levels aswell as coming with a ton of little goodies like much higher resolution and a 4d mouse. The sizes are bigger aswell going all the way up to 12x18. A good size is either the 6x8, or 9x12 as they are more easily comfortable. after all, most people are familiar with drawing on 8.5x11 sized paper.
I'd go with the graphire if i were u.

Uhm.. that the intuos has 1024 levels of pressure sensitivity is just a marketing trick, or atleast I was told by a guy in the tablet buisness. That the grayscale only has 256levels, when it is at its full contrast. 512 levels should be fine, I don't think you will feel any difference.
Although it could vary from program to program.. |
