Someone over at Slashdot dug up that city conceptual CM did and it's sure to spark off a whole lotta speculation about if it's still being made or not.
(I always thought it would make a cool mini-series of about 4 episodes; but you'd ned to get some cable company not overly shy about graphic sex, violence and swearing to do it properly)
If you're around spooge, perhaps you could tell us; how old is the pic and has there been any talk about the film since (that you know of)? |

That slashdot site is pretty buff, the log overloaded the last few days.
I did that Snowcrash thing about 3-4 years ago for ILM. Whoever had the rights came to them and wanted a some conceptual stuff done to I suppose secure some money. Nothing further happened and I don't know who has the rights now or if anything is being done on the film.
And here is a never seen before (for good reason) version of that image referenced on slashdot

Hey Craig.
"And here is a never seen before (for good reason) version of that image..."
Hey, not for anything, but that looks great to me -- even though surrealistic. I'd just like to know what you dislike about it, and point out the flaws so we may also see and learn from it. (or am I missing the whole point?)

I think its because he used a real city in the plate he made. My questions are.. who the hell is Rob? and why does your pics have to be wallpaper size to be considered art?

cool! cheers spooge.
the problems with the pics are, I'm guessing, that they're a bit cheesy. The book was written in 1990 and it's set roughly right now (but with some way over the top technology). The virtual world is kindof the only place a cool "sci-fi movie city" really exists and it's all based around a single street that goes around a giant sphere.
So I'm guessing the only thing really wrong with the pics is that they weren't matching up with what whoever commisioned them saw in the book. |

Chapel, yeah, who is Rob? Where did you see a ref to someone by that name?
By your reference to the desktop size pic being the minumum to be considered art, you saw that on slashdot? I thought that was pretty funny-quite in keeping with the geek image there.
I suppose my feelings about that image are it is a little bare, not much thought or refinement. Just what poped up got left alone. Maybe I should have read the book first |
