Hi!
Ok I really need some GOOD feedback on this.
I am planning of doing some TV star Airbrush portraits. I am wondering if I can sell them to the public with out have to cross any copyright or law.

unless the celeb. involved has copyrighted their visage / appearance, how can you be liable for any infringement of law?

One way it may be infringement is if you base your art off a photograph from a magazine or any source. The photograph may be copyrighted (as most are) and therefor that may be illegal to profit from.

good thinking, Dhabih...

but other than that - if you are just giving your personal characterisation of that person - you should be just about fine. but what the hell should I know

any photograph IS copyrighted, unless it's very old and has become public domain. (Well, I suppose if it is specifically stated the photo is free to use in any way, you're OK, but if not, assume you shouldn't.)

Thats true affected, last i heard, something must have been around for at least 75 years before its public domain.

Maybe you could draw portraits of TV stars from 75 years ago.....oh wait

hehehe
