I was considering to buy a graphics tablet, however I was wondering if any of you guys and gals have any experience with certain brands. I heard from several sources that WACOM are indeed the best, but in case one of you has such a tablet, I'd like to ask a few questions my merchant couldn't answer.
A. Does it work to make a huge picture(let's say A3) with an A5 tablet? F.E. I scroll around on the PC, to show a different part, and the tablet automatically draws in that part?
B.How far does Photoshop support it? I know it does, but can I do everything? I know Painter is included in the package, but I'd like to stick with Photoshop, with ALL of it's options.
C.Is there one pen included in the package, or more? Their page says something about applying different PC brushes to different pens. If there is only one, is it possible to buy more?
Thanks in advance! |

argh, didnt read loki's post, eh ??? well, search the forum for words like 'graphic tablet to buy' or something like that... this has been discussed 558372048 times before !!
and check wacom's site ( www.wacom.com ) for pens and stuff, you'll find lots of useful information there
i'd say go for wacom

Sorry if this been asked on this board before, but as you can see, is my first post.
I'll check for other threads, and I sure hope the special questions I asked are mentioned there(especially the thing about the size -drawing&size tablet thing. |

I've checked through that old posts, and could find the recommendation of WACOM tablets, which I was pretty sure I'd go for anyway. However, I couldn't find an answer to either of my other questions, which is most important to me. |

you can use any size wacom for any size image,. the bigger the wacom, the easier it is to get better details,.
wacoms normally come with only one pen,.
hope this helps./

I don't know what sort of limitations other tablets have, but with a Wacom this is the answer:
A.YES no problem
B.YES no problem
C.YES no problem
-and I'm sure none of this is different with any other tablets. Get a Wacom, most people do and feel happy with it.

Who called me?
Another dreadful tablet-thread? Mwaahaha ... where are my tools - let the torture begin ...
Anyway - since everyone else already gave you a little beating there's only one thing left to say: Welcome to the board!

Susi,
A) The area of your tablet, either fully or partially (you can set this to your personal need), is locked to the full resolution of your monitor. So this is absolutely not a concern..
B) PhotoShop supports it, although not fully. The registration of the tilting of the pen in relation to the tablet is not supported. Painter does support this. However VERY few people actually find this feature usefull for painting. So again.. nothing to worry about..
C) The tablet, whichever model you order, does come with a pen (wouldn't be much use without one now would it.. ) If you decide to purchase one of Wacom's Intuos tablets, then you have the option to buy additional pens like the airbrush.
All in all.. Wacom's the way to go... Hope this answers your questions...
Danny
